Marriage is between a man and a woman!’ Luckily, that’s fake. So far. I’d be highly interested in hearing if any Republican is stupid enough to attack Mr. Spooner. There just can’t be any _THAT_ stupid, please? ---

And along those same lines: Republican Councilman Lee Barnes of Arizona apologized for saying, regarding finances, “Excuse my action but I’m just a little Jewish to be able to do this.” [Cite](http://www.vosizneias.com/40147/2009/10/21/lake-havasu-city-az-councilman-under-fire-after-remarks-insensitive-to-jews). He had to apologize twice because the first time was of the “but it’s a compliment” variety. ---

Saxby Chambliss of Georgia ran ads that morphed Max Cleland’s (a triple amputee from Vietnam) face into Saddam Hussein’s and Osama bin Laden’s. He won, and was reelected last year. Good job, Georgia. ---

He also said in November 2001 that homeland security could be fixed by arresting every Muslim who crossed the Georgia state line. ---

Probably not very many. Only 16% of the population identifies with a religion other than Christianity, and 13% of those are atheist/agnostic. Still, they’ve got hospitals, which means they’ve got doctors, which means there are some Hindus and Muslims around there somewhere. ---

I can forgive state senator Berg. I thought that these were push polls and not a fund raising gimmick too. That pissed me off so much that I travelled from Chicago to the suburbs of Atlanta to volunteer for Jim Martin, Chambliss’ Democratic challenger in a run-off election. We didn’t succeed because Jim Martin, a good and decent man, has the raw charisma of soup. ---
