I think I’m actually starting to understand where the GOP is coming from. They don’t want to have abortions. They don’t want their daughters to have abortions, even in the case of rape. Therefore anyone who _does_ have an abortion must be doing it against their will, and the most important thing is to stop this horrible crime of _forced abortion_ (which in their minds is all abortion). Thing like the New Mexico bill make more sense if looked at from this perspective. The idea that some women might actually _want_ to have an abortion, even after rape, is so alien to them that it doesn’t enter into their thinking. ---
