I think it happens at least once a year.

I’m still trying to figure out how taking a separate flight = Arrogant.

Unless arrogant is being used as a substitute for uppity.

Someday we need to put the brakes on this thread so we can go back and count up all the stupid ideas and divide by the number of days it ran. I suspect that there really was a new stupid Republican idea about once a day.

I don’t think the Founders had cross-country vacation flights in mind when they drafted the Constitution. Michelle Obama should have to take the kids to Aspen in a Conestoga wagon.

This may be the most impressive derailment since the two-page-long argument last year about what constitutes a “true Christian”.

If I may be so bold as to steer the thread back toward its intended topic, House Republicans are trying to add [an amendment to this year’s NDAA making it legal for servicemembers to harass their gay co-workers.](http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2013/06/05/2108681/house-republicans-push-for-another-military-license-to-discriminate/)

To be fair, some Republicans are inflating the numbers by doing the stupid on an almost daily basis.

“Hopelessly hijacked”? Pfffft. **Starving Artist** tried to hijack this thread into a defense of Stupid Republican Ideas back on page _2_, and **galveston** attempted it starting on page 64, and I’m sure there have been other such efforts after that.

The mighty current of quotidian Republican stupidity just kept on rolling along and swept away their feeble attempts to deny it. I’m sure the same thing will happen to this hijack as well.

Speaking of quotidian Republican stupidity, it was recently reported that [the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor of Virginia argues that the fact that chimps can’t talk like humans is evidence that evolution is false](http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/06/05/republican-candidate-evolution-false-because-chimps-cant-talk/):

Lawksie, yes. [Daily Kos](http://features.rr.com/article/0cSIbrVcWL5xh?q=Life+%28show%29) has an enjoyable piece about the nose-holding antics of the [_National Review_ article that tried to speak admiringly of Bishop Jackson](http://www.nationalreview.com/article/350180/pulpit-ticket-betsy-woodruff), but go directly to the article itself for the real fun:

> [@](#):
>
> There are a few reasons this old-fashioned minister became national news ([…] and one is that that’s what happens when you win a major party’s nomination after saying that gays are “frankly very sick people” and that the president “clearly has Muslim sensibilities” and that African-Americans need to end their “slavish devotion” to the Democratic party. […]
>
> Jackson has an uphill battle, to say the least. But he hasn’t let campaigning keep him from his pastoral duties. […]
>
> CDs of his messages were available for a donation of $5 at a table by the entrance. The bulletin also suggested that church members “sow a seed of one weeks pay” [sic] for the annual “Founder’s Week” service held in honor of Jackson and his wife. […]
>
> An envelope inserted in the bulletin listed a number of different causes to which attendees could designate their offerings, including “Bishop’s Birthday,” “Bishop & 1st Lady Wedding Anniversary,” “Founder’s Week (& Too Much Blessing Seed)” and “Bishop’s Vacation,” as well as a few ministries, “General Pastoral Support,” and the building fund. The bulletin also announced that the congregation takes up a weekly offering “to provide relief from the cost of gasoline to our members with cars.” […]
>
> On page 177 [of Jackson’s abovementioned book] he says: “While giving to the poor is important, the most powerful giving for wealth building is upward giving.” On p. 178, Jackson uses his own case to explain how this works:
>
> > [@](#):
> >
> > For example, as you read this book, you may feel a deep spiritual affinity for the things I am teaching and therefore a profound spiritual kinship with me. We may never meet in person, but you can draw on the anointing which God has placed on my life by sowing into my ministry. That opens a spiritual door for you to partake at a deeper level and for me to impart to you as one in Covenant with me. That is how I have come to support other ministries. Wherever you are moved to give, do it consistently and generously. This will start a flow of prosperity in your life which will enhance all the other principles you have learned.
>
> […] Anyway, after worship, tithes (a musician played keyboard while attendees walked to the front of the room to put their donations in baskets), announcements, and a Scripture reading, Jackson launched into his sermon. […]
>
> After criticizing American culture, which he described as degenerate, Jackson said that the political process won’t cure what ails our country. The cultural problem is too deep, he said, and Americans need God. […]
>
> “As if God’s gonna let mankind destroy the planet with SUV’s!” he cried. “It’s silly, when you think about it.” […]

A black preacher criticizing American culture? As the Daily Kos piece points out, apparently IOKIARDI.

Dude. Are you really going to try rebutting this thread ALL THE WAY THROUGH, STARTING FROM POST #1? 'Cos if you are, I have to say that’s pretty impressive.

You realize this thread is more than four years old, and has close to 10K posts in it, right?

You might want to settle in for a long session, maybe catheterize yourself.
