>
> Faced with a daunting primary race next year in which most insiders consider him the underdog, the veteran legislator has hardly bothered to raise any money to match his opponent.

Moderate Republican state Senator, Dale Schultz faces a tough primary in which his opponent has raided $94,000 compared to his $684. In the general election he’d get independent and even some Democratic support, but he seems unlikely to get that far.

> [@](#):
>
> Silly us that thought we were going to have some opportunity to impact something,” he adds, referring to the alternative mining proposal he worked on with Sens. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville, and Bob Jauch, D-Poplar.
>
> For what purpose do people even pursue elected office these days, he wonders.
> “When some think tank comes up with the legislation and tells you not to fool with it, why are you even a legislator anymore?” he asks. “You just sit there and take votes and you’re kind of a feudal serf for folks with a lot of money.”
>
> And yet the will to crush the opposition in today’s political climate extends beyond matters that interest big-money donors. Some Republicans seem to have made a sport out of stomping on liberals, or perceived liberals. Schultz cites the crackdown on the Solidarity Sing Along at the Capitol.
>
> “I think it is a sideshow designed to divert people from the real issues,” he says. “I mean, many days there weren’t even many people there anymore. Well somebody had to prove we could bang heads and we could rip their faces off and get ‘em in line, so they come in with the heavy hand and what’s the natural reaction? Ten times as many people showed up. Now, what did that solve?

**Tea Party to Republicans: Shut Down the Government, or You’re a Sellout**

The stupid idea here is the teahadists who want to shut down the government and the Republicans who go along with them. Their political threats against fellow Republicans who want to abide by their oaths of office by supporting the Constitution are another stupid idea.

> [@](#):

> Look no further than Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell has never said a kind word about Obamacare, famously united his Republican caucus around opposition to it, and has called for its repeal as loudly as anybody. But he hasn’t committed to the defunding strategy—and he’s getting all kinds of grief over it. It’s coming from his more conservative colleagues and it’s coming from his more conservative primary challenger, Matt Bevin. At a recent town hall meeting, Bevin challenged McConnell to take a position, saying “be a man.”

That’s a little unfair, isn’t it? Not only is McConnell under pressure to stay in the closet…allegedly, heh, Bevin now wants him to be a man. Well, I say that’s simply too much to expect of \*\*\*any \*\*\*turtle.

Okay, one comment: Texas.

Mike Huckabee Refers To Muslims As ‘Uncorked Animals’

> HUCKABEE: You know, if you’ve kept up with the Middle East, you know that the most likely time to have an uprising of rock throwing and rioting comes on the day of prayer on Friday. So the Muslims will go to the mosque, and they will have their day of prayer, and they come out of there like uncorked animals — throwing rocks and burning cars.

“Uncorked animals?”

Really, Reverend Huckabee?
Really?

You almost have to wonder at what point will the GOP just have an honest moment and rename themselves, “The Party of God”. The acronym would have to be flipped, but that saves on letters doesn’t it?

When christians start in on “end times” they seem to get confused as to whether they are against the signs of it or excited it’s finally happening.
