[Terrifying Poll Shows How Republicans Are Just Willing To Let It All Blow Up](http://www.businessinsider.com/poll-debt-ceiling-raise-not-favored-by-gop-2013-9)

\*"Democrats (62-31) and Independents (48-46) believe the debt ceiling should be raised. But Republicans (25-61) are about as heavily against doing so as Democrats are in favor of it.

“This is despite the fact that the vast majority of Republicans — and the vast majority of Americans overall — believe that not raising the debt ceiling would “cause serious harm” to the U.S. economy. By a 66-27 split, Republicans **are aware** that failure to lift the nation’s borrowing limit could inflict serious consequences. Overall, 73% of Americans believe it will cause serious harm.”\*

This is the kind of dangerous thinking today’s Republican Party has instilled in their supporters. The headline is right: It’s terrifying. Their stupidity will bring this country to its knees … again. Yippee!

We’ve seen this before Oklahoma Republicans.

What goes around, comes around, as we NYers say.

**Colorado House Republicans Unanimously Support Flood Relief, Unanimously Opposed Sandy Aid**

> [@](#):
>
> But the four Republican Congressmen who are now supporting disaster relief for their own state were among those voting earlier this year against the emergency aid funding for Superstorm Sandy victims on the East Coast.
>
> Colorado Republican Reps. Mike Coffman, Cory Gardner, Doug Lamborn, and Scott Tipton joined their delegation in asking the president to send emergency funds to help their constituents combat and recover from the more than 14 inches of rain that have flooded Colorado this month.

Apparently they don’t believe in pulling themselves out of the flood waters by their own bootstraps.

Probably a large contingent of no votes on Sandy relief from the Gulf coast states. Just wait for the next big one.

I predict that the relief for Colorado will be given without much fuss.

In the true spirit of, “Let them eat cake”.

**Republican congressman tells constituent asking about food stamp cuts: ‘Let him not eat’**

> [@](#):
>
> “2 Thessalonians 3:10 English Standard Version (ESV) 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat,” Congressman Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) posted in reply Friday afternoon to an inquiry from Kevin Tengesdal, a Bismark-based actor and activist.
>
> **snip**
> The quote Cramer used in reply to Tengesdal is an admonition against Christians failing to plant seed and harvest food because anticipation of the imminent return of Christ might seemingly make that toil unnecessary.
>
> Ironically, Cramer’s North Dakota district received $10.4 billion in agricultural subsidies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2005 to 2012 — the single largest recipient of farm subsidies in the nation.

A couple of comments on Reddit:

Check out the press release concerning food stamps (underlined for emphasis):

> [@](#):
>
> [CRAMER OP-ED: FOOD STAMP REFORMS ADVANCE THE DIGNITY OF WORK](http://cramer.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/cramer-op-ed-food-stamp-reforms-advance-the-dignity-of-work)
> Sep 20, 2013 Press Release
> The news reports of young surfers in California who use food stamps to maintain a work-free lifestyle. Serious damage is being done to a program originally designed to help those in need.
>
> To restore the integrity and solvency of nutrition assistance, the House passed several important reforms this week as part of the Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act. They are worth explaining in detail.
>
> First, our bill requires President Obama to finally enforce the bipartisan 1996 welfare reforms to food stamps. The law Bill Clinton advocated for and signed states if you are an able-bodied adult aged 18 to 50 without dependent children, you should have a job, be looking for a job, be training for a job, or perform community service in order to receive government benefits. The President has been handing out exemptions to this law since 2009. We can generate $20 billion in savings by ending these waivers while encouraging able-bodied people to work.
>
> Second, we closed a loophole which automatically extends food stamp benefits to anyone who so much as receives a government brochure or calls a toll-free hotline, regardless of their income or assets. This “categorical eligibility”, allows lottery winners and millionaires to receive food stamps. Our bill doesn’t change income requirements. It simply requires people to actually meet them in order to qualify.
>
> \<snip\>

Lottery winners and millionaires chiseling off of food stamps…I suppose the Koch brothers cower at night knowing that Congressman Cramer is on the war path threatening their nightly dish of macaroni n’ cheese with bisque.

I deny their major, of course. There’s no real need to be working to receive a stipend from society. Do trust fund babies have to jump through unemployment hoops?

But in defense of surfers, surfing\* is \*work. They’re devoting themselves to their art, and there’s something cool about that. Even if it’s bad long-term financial planning–but hey, bad long-term financial–well, fiscal–planning is a GOP sacrament or something!

I think she believes in the ‘strangle the beast’ metaphor. It’s a bit insanely destructive for my taste, but I think she understands it would hurt a lot, but thinks it would help shrink government long run.

I won’t try to summarize Mr. Powell’s teachings. What’s clear is that [Comet Ison](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C/2012_S1) is on its way to save us from the Antichrist but, instead of bringing the Rapture immediately, God may want to first rub our noses in our sinful election of the Antichrist. Skimming Mr. Powell’s remarks, it appears God is particularly angry at Obama’s quest to overturn the Second Amendment.
