Cruz is not American. I want his birth certificate so I can say it is faked, and I bet he is a stinking mooslum and socialist who hates our freedoms too.

I’m starting to wonder if there’s any blatant mistruth this guy will not confidently state. I kinda want some journalist to assert the sky is blue in his presence, as an empirical test.

Why, gosh, the compromise bill strengthens verification requirements for people signing up under the ACA! Why, that alone makes the whole fiasco entirely justified! It might actually prevent ten whole people from fraudulently applying! This counts as a huge victory!

The first step to deporting Cruz to Canada (or at least outside of Texas) took place a couple of days ago. The [Houston Chronicle un-endorsed Cruz](http://www.chron.com/opinion/editorials/article/Why-we-miss-Kay-Bailey-Hutchison-4898405.php?cmpid=opedhprr):

> [@](#):
>
> And dare we say it? We miss her extraordinary understanding of the importance of reaching across the aisle when necessary. Neither sitting Texas senator has displayed that useful skill, and both the state and the Congress are the poorer for it.
>
> One reason we particularly believe that Hutchison would make a difference in these hectic days is that if she had kept her seat, Cruz would not be in the Senate.
>
> When we endorsed Ted Cruz in last November’s general election, we did so with many reservations and at least one specific recommendation - that he follow Hutchison’s example in his conduct as a senator.
>
> Obviously, he has not done so. Cruz has been part of the problem in specific situations where Hutchison would have been part of the solution.

Just for shits and giggles, and to keep up the birther conspiracy tradition, all y’all should ask why Cruz has failed to produce proof of American citizenship (he has produced [his Canadian birth certificate](http://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/headlines/20130818-born-in-canada-ted-cruz-became-a-citizen-of-that-country-as-well-as-u.s..ece?nclick_check=1)), ask why he has failed to renounce his Canadian citizenship despite he promise to do so about a year ago, and demand that he produce his mother’s birth certificate as well as proof that she was physically present in the USA for ten years prior to his birth, including five of those years following her turning fourteen (the requirements for him to be a US citizen born abroad by a married couple of which only one was a US citizen – note that since his birth, or hatching, or whatever, the rules have changed for this category).

Sadly [they subsequently weaseled](http://blog.chron.com/chronopinion/2013/10/did-we-un-endorse-ted-cruz-no/):

> [@](#):
>
> We did not pull our endorsement of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz. Our references to Cruz served to provide context to the Hutchison tribute by emphasizing her ability to reach across the aisle when necessary. When we endorsed Cruz in October 2012, we also pointed to Hutchison as an exemplary role model for Texas lawmakers in Washington and suggested that he emulate the Texas statesmen who had come before him. Our editorial today simply referred back to that recommendation.

Right, so they endorsed Cruz in the hope he wouldn’t act like Cruz despite the fact that he turned out to be exactly the guy who ran for the job. And when he acted exactly like he was going to all along, they stand by that endorsement - they just don’t want him to be the way he has always been.

It’s like they put a cat inside the birdcage, saying “it’s okay if he doesn’t act like a cat.” And then, with the birds limited to a pile of feathers, they say “I still think it’s a good idea that we put it in there. It just needs to stop eating the birds.”

This bit is also interesting:

> [@](#):
>
> While we’re on the topic, we’d like to think our first choice to succeed Hutchison in the Senate, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, would have been more amenable to following Hutchison’s example than Cruz has been. But these days, we’re not so sure. Dewhurst, long considered a moderate in the Texas GOP, clearly was rattled by his unexpected loss to Cruz for the Senate seat.
>
> Since the defeat, the lieutenant governor has attempted a full-blown political makeover designed to make him the darling of the conservative wing of the Texas party.
>
> Faced with the impossible task of outflanking three strong conservative challengers, the traditional moderate Dewhurst does not seem like a man comfortable in his own skin. It’s painful to watch.

David Dewhurst? [The Texas Observer observed](http://www.texasobserver.org/david-dewhurst-calls-obamas-impeachment/) a recent Teabagger gathering…

> [@](#):
>
> The crowd at Monday’s meeting of the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party got more than they bargained for. The event at Concordia Lutheran Church in the Fort Worth suburb of Bedford was originally planned so tea party members could learn about the Muslim Brotherhood’s supposed infiltration of the United States. But the crowd was also treated to a dose of the sniping that’s come to define the Texas lieutenant governor’s race — and saw the state’s second-highest elected official, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, call for President Obama’s impeachment and removal from office.
>
> Dewhurst was the first lieutenant governor candidate to speak. Since losing a 2012 Senate primary to Ted Cruz in part because of his insufficient tea party cred, Dewhurst has been working hard to ingratiate himself with his party’s right wing. He’s reached out to, and won praise from, tea party leaders around the state. And given the chance to appeal to the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party, Dewhurst opened with the big guns.
>
> “This election is about protecting you and your freedoms, which are given to you by God, but which are being trampled on by Barack Obama right now. I don’t know about you, but Barack Obama ought to be impeached,” he declared to hearty applause. “Not only for trampling on our liberties, but what he did in Benghazi is just a crime.”…

In Texas, the Lite Gov is more powerful than the Governor. (Ricky Perry has expanded his power by intense appointment of cronies/donors to state positions over the years.) The Republican hopefuls are trying to out-teabag each other, in a truly obscene spectacle…

WASHINGTON — Coming out of a closed-door meeting Wednesday afternoon, in which Speaker John A. Boehner explained to his conference that he would be taking up the Senate deal and likely passing it with the help of Democratic votes, Republican lawmakers were already regrouping for the next fight.

“I’ll vote against it,” Representative John Fleming of Louisiana said. “But that will get us into Round 2. See, we’re going to start this all over again.”
