AZ Rep Trent Franks: Slavery was bad but at least it’s better than what blacks have today, what with legalized abortion and all.

[In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. And now we look back on it and we say “How brave were they? What was the matter with them? You know, I can’t believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible.” And we’re right, we’re right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America’s soul. And yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by policies of slavery. And I think, What does it take to get us to wake up?](http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/archives/2010/02/rep-trent-franks-blacks-were-better-off-under-slavery.php)

Hey, that’s kind of brilliant! If the Republicans can claim aborted black babies as part of the black community, they finally have a segment of that community that they can truly say they try to serve!

Virtually any Republican attitude towards blacks would have to be superior to conservative pundit Dinesh D’Souza’s:

Sweet fucking Jesus. That’s some hardcore stupid right there. I always thought Dinesh was a pretty smart guy - he was a Stanford fellow, after all - and then googling turned up some astonishingly idiotic quotes. For example:
"Marriage does not civilize men. Women do. This point is even evident in the gay community: it helps to explain why lesbians are generally much better than male homosexuals in sustaining long-term relationships. The reason that society privileges marriage and gives it a special legal status is because marriage is the only known incubator for the raising of children.
D’Souza is a creationist too. He’s an absolute moron (as well as a racist, a homophobe, a sexist and a religious bigot) posing as an intellectual, but because his audience is even dumber than he is, they buy his whole schtick.

To be fair to him, he’s basically quoting the Republican SuperJesus, Saint Ronald. If anyone is going to be angry at Kyl for anything it’s that not a single article seems to have mentioned him genuflecting as he said it.

Perhaps this is not a stupid strategy. What is stupid however, is leaving a copy of your slideshow lying around where a Democrat can get his hands on it, and get it published on the internet.

[Because it’s the Judeo-Christian way!](http://www.afa.net/Blogs/BlogPost.aspx?id=2147492239)

> [@Bryan Fischer](#):
>
> Chalk another death up to animal rights insanity and to the ongoing failure of the West to take counsel on practical matters from the Scripture.
>
> According to the Orlando Sentinel, “SeaWorld Orlando has always know that Tillikum…could be a particularly dangerous killer whale…because of his ominous history.”
>
> The Sentinel then recounts that Tilly, as he was affectionately known, had killed a trainer back in 1991 in front of spectators at a now defunct aquarium in Victoria, British Columbia.
>
> Then in 1999 he killed a man who sneaked into SeaWorld to swim with the whales and was found the next morning draped dead across Tilly’s back. His body had been bit and the killer whale had torn off his swimming trunks after he had died.
>
> What about the term “killer whale” do SeaWorld officials not understand?
>
> If the counsel of the Judeo-Christian tradition had been followed, Tillikum would have been put out of everyone’s misery back in 1991 and would not have had the opportunity to claim two more human lives.
>
> Says the ancient civil code of Israel, “When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not be liable.” (Exodus 21:28)
>
> So, your animal kills somebody, your moral responsibility is to put that animal to death. You have no moral culpability in the death, because you didn’t know the animal was going to go postal on somebody.
>
> But, the Scripture soberly warns, if one of your animals kills a second time because you didn’t kill it after it claimed its first human victim, this time you die right along with your animal. To use the example from Exodus, if your ox kills a second time, “the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.” (Exodus 21:29)
>
> If I were the family of Dawn Brancheau, I’d sue the pants off SeaWorld for allowing this killer whale to kill again after they were well aware of its violent history.

Gee, but now the victim’s family is only supposed to **sue** the rogue animal’s owner instead of putting them to death too, like Exodus says? Why so soft on crime all of a sudden, Mr. Fischer?
