> Does that indicate that Minnesota wants to secede from the Union? Canada could take them, except that Canada has UHC and gay marriage.

In a pinch we could take them (I live at the top of Hwy 61), but I’d rather take Idaho due to it’s wildwater. I figure it would be OK, for the radical right would simply move to other states before the land would be transferred to Canada.

Yes, but if Texas secedes, assuming you’re sane you’ll have to move out anyway, so you wouldn’t have to deal with all the crazies. It’d be a real shame to lose Austin and San Antonio, but sacrifices would have to be made before we build that massive “Fuck You Fence,” and it’d be cheaper to just build one anti-immigration fence along the border of Texas than around Texas _and_ Minnesota.

All those Founding Fathers and offspring weren’t nearly as simpatico as teabaggers want to believe.

Neither was Reagan, and that only took them 12 years to completely turn what he actually did into what they want to think he did.

Smooth Move, Douchebags!

I hear you guys have started to work on [your own version of a financial reform bill.](http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/26/g-o-p-readies-a-rival-bill-on-financial-rules/?src=busln) Congratulations on your work ethic, your timeliness, and especially, your perspicacity, because, you know, no one could have ever imagined a need to re-regulate Wall street after the biggest regulatory meltdown since the great depression.

There is a fuck you fence at the eastern-most border crossing between Minnesota and Canada. But there is a locked gate in the fence, and if you politely ask the Canadian border guards, they will loan you the key. Seriously.

Is there some special code you have to use? Can you just ask for the key, or do you need to ask in a special way, eh?

All you have to do is ask politely, and they will give you the Key to Canada that opens the gate in the Fuck Off Fence. Really. As crazy as it sounds, I am not putting you on. The policy is to have a Fuck Off Fence, so we have a fence. The locals like fishing on the river that separates our nations here, but the fence prevents access, 'cause that’s what Fuck Off Fences do. Since the top-down policy requried the fence, the bottom-up solution to the problem was to put a gate in the fence and lend out the key to polite people.

Just remember that when you return the key, don’t jump the line of vehicles waiting to clear customs, for that would not be polite, which would disturb the nice customs officials. When a couple of my friends did this, a customs official ran out of the building with his hand on his gun, and actually shouted at them in a very un-polite way.

I have to say that this strikes me as one of their low points. Sure, they’ve supported more outrageous positions, but while they often have bad ideas, they’re usually pretty \*good \*at promoting them. I’m kind of puzzled by their plan to paint themselves into a corner with Wall St. on this issue. It seems unusually politically dangerous.

Just a few weeks ago the Ds looked doomed for the midterms. Now it looks as if we’re going to spend the rest of the year with Rs alternately alienating minorities in an immigration debate, and cuddling up to Wall St. in a financial reform debate. Surprisingly good strategy by Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, I guess. Not sure it’s enough to prevent losses, but it seems like the best play they could make.

That only goes to show how liberal the MSM really is. Only the Murdoch press have the courage to tell the American people the truth.

I read an Internet comment about a news story claiming that the article was further proof that the MSM, of which this particular news organ was a member, were trying to unfairly paint all teabaggers as racist.

The news organ in question? The Onion.

The Freepers are very, very pissed off that the Republicans have allowed debate to begin:

I found an indirect comparison to Obama as Hitler in post #47. Can’t believe it took that long.

Then again, someone is bemoaning how they’re ALL socialists. Who knew that the IMM troll posted there?

EDIT: Wait, sorry, they are in reverse order. So, the 9th post. It only took a few posts to start lamenting that the valiant folk of United 93 died to protect these worthless politicians. Invoking 9/11. What were the odds?

As of this afternoon, Republicans have denied financial reforms as many times as Peter Denied Jesus ([Mark 14:66-72](http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+14%3A66-72&version=KJV)).

Thanks for that! I came home from work tired and a bit depressed because I’m on the day shift, and that just cheered me right up!

Though, lots of creepiness abounds. I’m not very far into reading, and this made me go :

Sadly, Reid let the Republicans off easy:
[Rather than taking a fourth cloture vote, the Senate just agreed to start formal debate on Sen. Chris Dodd’s (D-Conn.) financial regulatory reform bill by unanimous consent.](http://washingtonindependent.com/83457/senate-agrees-to-move-finreg-to-the-floor-by-unanimous-consent)

There’s never going to be an explicit list of Republican traitors to the freeper cause. They’ve _all_ got plausible deniability.
Reid really plays too nice to be Majority Leader these days.

OK, this is from way back on Monday, but here’s a nominee: [Iowa Congressional candidate Pat Bertroche](http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0428/gop-candidates-microchip-illegal-comment-draws-outrage/) on illegal immigration.
