Pretty sure that adequate nutrition and health care has a positive effect on children. Still, can’t hurt to double check. Reckon we’ll need to have them here, keep an eye on them. For science. ---

One local loon called into the local loon radio show and was pretty damn certain that Obama was going to make them child soldiers, give them AK-47s, and let them run the FEMA death camps. ---

My attitude toward the Red States is decidedly NOT “Ok guys, go ahead and reject vaccines and suffer and die from polio, rubella, mumps, whooping cough and all the rest. May your infrastructure crumble and your schools and hospitals close. May your children be uneducated and languish in poverty for all of their days.” NO!! This is America, and that is NOT how things are supposed to play out. But that is exactly the kind of outcome all this anti-intellectualism is going to lead to. ‘Uneducated’ and ‘ignorant’ are _conditions_ every much as poverty, or polio, or whooping cough are. They really aren’t partisan insults at all, but objective assessments. They can be addressed. Let us do it. The goal isn’t to control your lives- getting educated means you can break free from having your lives controlled by the demagogues who yank the chains of your credulity. Southerners: education is pretty much the opposite of what you’re told it is! ---

That’s even worse than [Michelle Bachmann](http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/31/michele-bachmann-undocumented-children_n_5637765.html) saying Obama wants the children here so they can be subjects of medical experiments. But I’m betting that loon on the radio was never their leading candidate for the Presidential nomination during the last race, not even for a day. ---
