> Oh my god that is the funniest Web site I’ve seen in a long time. Clearly they can’t let the open forum continue, clearly this will be lambasted as a lib’ plot of unAmerican proportions (said with a straight face by the same people who advocated disrupting town hall meetings). Clearly someone needs to be capturing all the responses … _won’t someone think of the comedy?!_

I set up [a separate thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=564800) for collecting some of the best ones.

It looks like the site has been set up to make “Most Interest” the default, which filters out most the worst/best (depending on your post of view) of the trolls and satirists. You can still see a more representative sampling by selecting “Most Recent” instead.

Well, I guess this is officially the Stupid Republican Idea of the Year. Can we get a mod to lock this thread until January 1st? 😉

Oh, I have more faith in the GOP than that. I’m sure we’ll be needing this thread again later this year at some point.

As the OP, it warms the cockles of my heart, whatever they are, sure is itchy though, to see such stupidity and hilarity in action!

Absolutely do not close this thread. It’s a given that more stupidity will be along shortly.

I was reading the intarwebs and I came across an interview with the Republican State Senator who got caught driving drunk outside the gay bar.

[![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/kd4NSMocPVc/hqdefault.jpg "Ashburn Urges Support For Gay Rights") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd4NSMocPVc)

But, the thing is, I actually love how the dude is handling it. I think I may have found the sane Republican.

I have an amendment to that. If you use an online picture of a gun during the commission of a crime, your sentence is doubled.

However, thank Christ, getting directions from Skeeter down at the general store when you commit your crimes will not earn you the extra months. There is some sense of justice in Louisiana.

Worth noting that Representative Cannon lives in Winter Park, about as far as you can get from the sea and still be in Florida.

If I print a map and then photocopy it am I still getting the extra year? Or will I get a totally DIFFERENT year for copyright infringement?

So the now-former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer spent nearly $200,000 in party money to pay a company that coincidentally happened to pay him over $100,000. Skirting the edge of ethics you might say? Well, allegedly the company [never performed](http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/06/02/florida.gop.arrest/) some of the services they billed for. I’m sure his lawyers will insist it was all just a paperwork mix-up.

[South Carolina state senator Jake Knotts on the radio promoting his pick for Governor](http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2010/06/staying_classy.php?ref=fpblg) “We already have one raghead in the White House, we don’t need a raghead in the governor’s mansion.”

He’s speaking of Nikki Haley whose parents were born in Punjab. Oh and of course Obama-- that secret Kenyan Muslim.

Thing is, this probably works very well in South Carolina.

It shocked me that he did that. I mean, I don’t live in North Carolina so I may have been missing something, but I really, really don’t expect a state senator to actually go on the radio in this day and age and call political candidates of major parties “ragheads”. Limbaugh, maybe. Hannity, possibly. Beck, likely. Coulter, certainly. But an actual living, breathing state-level politician? Jeez…

**South** Carolina. Please, we have enough problems in the Old North State without picking up South Carolina’s particular brand of crazy.
