They’ve flat-out lost the SSM/gay rights issue, and their all-out efforts to quell reproductive rights met with only a few limited, mostly local successes before stalling. The war on science and the natural environment is steadily losing ground in the light of cold, hard fact. They have done considerable damage in their assault on public education and civil rights, but even there, they are encountering a great deal of push back. The fact is, the right wing is in serious need of a new _hate du jour_ and a sort of revised anti-semitism might be seen by some as meeting that need. Once that runs its course, one hopes the religious right will finally begin to feed on itself as it has historically done. ---

There’s a hitch, though: the RR _need_ the Jews — at least the Jews in Israel — to rebuild the Temple so that the Second Coming can take place. After that, of course, they’re fair game unless they Accept Jesus Christ As Their Personal Lord And Saviour. Before they get to the Jews, I would expect the RR to double or triple down on the Muslims. After all, even though the Jews are definitely second-class citizens, they are, like Christians, descended from Abraham; Muslims, on the other hand, are 100% non-Abrahamic heathens. (That whooshing noise you hear comes to you courtesy of some of my fundie relations.) ---

You get blacks and middle-easterners for the price of one, plus any radical white counter-culture types who convert are a bonus. After that I’d expect to see more screaming about the Mexican Menace literally at our doorstep as well as attempts to divide the whole Latino demographic. ---

The political goal is to get a person or party elected. This requires public support. Public support is contingent upon public opinion. Social media presents opportunity to sway public opinion through posts and discussions. The SDMB is a social media. I’ll leave it to you to connect the dots. ---
