And sent his only begotten son, his beloved, to get nailed to a tree to save the souls God already knew were going to Hell. What a dick. Or perhaps a heartless and merciless God was the only thing the Calvinists _could_ worship. ---

I guess Rick forgot about the generosity part, but hey, the poor, you know, that’s just the way it is and there’s nothing you can do about it. Besides “_command you_” is open to interpretation as in the singular sense, that you help your neighbor with charity; as opposed to the plural sense, which some would take to mean _the_ government, and obviously, that’s what’s not commanded here because America is awesome! If Perry wants to take the Bible “literally,” then it’s fair game to ask why is Texas in the top 10 for poorest states in the US? Wouldn’t the governor be fearful of angering G-d and ensuring he did everything possible to reduce poverty? Or, do we need to install more Ten Commandments displays in the government buildings? Would that alleviate the poverty? It’s so hard to be a Bible believing Texas governor. ---
