I hope what the reporter meant was he could not leave the dog there without showing ID. Because, as you say, telling the guy he can’t leave has gotta be illegal detention. ---

In any case, as previously noted, this guy was a “sovereign citizen” (oxymoron?), he does not really belong in a thread about stupid Republicans. The Rs want to destroy the country, not leave it. ---

Sorry, missed the edit window. Other stories, like the one linked below, say that he was told he had to show ID to leave the animal. Sounds to me like they called the cops on him when he got belligerent about not being able to leave the dog without showing proper ID. The cop fight was because of his attitude, not the lack of ID. ---
