Can we please all disregard anything **adaher** has to say in this thread. His thread shitting really takes away from the fun of the thread. I come in to read the Stupid Republican Ideas of the Day not the pointless debate with **Adaher** thread. There are always several other threads that can be done in. ---

I do realize that the Ultimate Stupid Liberal Idea that has foiled all of their plans to make the world a better place is the idea that most people aren’t as smart and as enlightened as they are. That would be your side. Not that Republicans don’t do it, but geez, have some self-awareness. The entire purpose of the progressive movement has been to diagnose what’s wrong with society morally and fix it while patting yourselves on the back for your superior morality. ---

You’re projecting again. How often have liberals continued to support programs that don’t work, or create a very small value for a huge amount of money? In any case, you’re wrong again. it wasn’t tighter regulation of markets worldwide that led to such a huge increase in human welfare. It was freer markets. Every single conservative understands that markets have to be regulated. We just believe the burden of proof is on the regulators to demonstrate that the regulations are necessary and effective. Same goes for social programs. Simple and magical thinking is what leads to massive new programs that waste money and don’t work. Plus a lack of curiosity as to whether the programs are performing their mission. Not very compassionate of you folks to enact programs and then not care if they work or not. ---
