A side question from that article: It says that “one of the halted legislations was proposed by a 14-year-old girl to designate the Idaho Giant Salamander as the official state amphibian”. WHY?

I think a more salient question would be what states need with official amphibians. Or do with them, for that matter. I mean, don’t they already have local politicians for all their amphibian needs ? (_badum, tish_)

Probably because one of the Republicans on the committee was hoping that HE could be the official state amphibian.

There is no reality in which Walker wouldn’t sign the legislation if it hits his desk - but he apparently didn’t expect it to get there. Throwing up a little in my mouth from defending him, but from what I’ve read I don’t think Walker pushed this - the Senate majority leader realized he suddenly had the votes, and is pushing it through.

If I recall rightly it’s because the proposed text of the bill says something about evolution, and that makes Jesus cry.

The video is funny:

[![]( " - YouTube") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUse5tIMoNU)

Bill Cosby, in an old stand up routine, described how the baby must be bored and how he thought of asking his wife to swallow a ball for the kid to play with. At least we know Cosby was trying to be funny.

One could insert a minicamera in the vagina, I suppose . . . but that probably would be more complicated than swallowing a pill that came in the mail, and probably would require a doctor or nurse to do it right. Also, I’ve never heard of gynecologists doing that – do they ever? They mainly rely on ultrasound scans, don’t they? And it seems to me that to get an up-close look at the state of a pregnancy you would need to insert a camera, at the end of a cable, through the cervix and into the uterus – which could be done, but might be dangerous to the fetus, for all I know.

Idaho is going for a bumper crop of crazy this year.

A state representative (Christy Perry (R)) thinks that “a proposed ban on faith-healing could [violate the religious rights of her constituents](http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/idaho-republican-backs-faith-healer-parents-if-i-want-to-let-my-child-be-with-god-why-is-that-wrong/)”. Mind you, this ban is for limiting a faith-based exemption for CHILD medical care. But Perry says of the parents,

As funny as this is, and as rewarding it is to point out Republican’s misunderstanding of science, I think its pretty clear from the context that the question was meant rhetorically, in an attempt discredit the analogy between the abortion drug and colonoscopy that the witness was making.
