and as I stand there looking at the extinguisher, I see that there is nothing to break through the glass. Except my fist. So, I hit the glass with my fist to shatter it, grab the extinguisher, and put out the fire. I got a cut on my hand I didn’t notice until I walked upstairs to visit said hot neighbor. His friend doctored me up.

My neighbor thinks I’m really really tough.

_feels faint_

Uh… well, the stupidest thing I can think of is swapping a hot pan from my oven mitt right hand to my un-mitted left hand to get it to the sink. OW. Dropped it in there and hit the cool water until my hand stopped hurting. No blisters, but I wasn’t a happy camper for a while.

I just dropped a dinner plate on my left big toe this evening. It hit right below the nail, broke the skin just a tiny bit and started turning the area black and swollen almost immediately. I can move it and do not believe it’s broken, but…
OOOOWWWWWIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!
☹
Let’s just say that the two yellow boxes you keep in your pantry should not be confused. Corn starch in chow mein = yum. Baking soda in chow mein = interesting special effects. Nothing was hurt but dinner.
I’m betting they might be the same kind of special effects you get when you make the same mistake with egg drop soup. I blamed it on being pregnant.

Last Sunday I was baking cookies with a friend from work. Let me preface this by saying none of us ever use the oven. We probably wouldn’t know how if we had to. Unbeknownst to me, my mother had hidden a bag of marshmallows in the oven. So my friend preheats the oven, and we go about our cookie-making activities. We make the cookie dough all nice and pretty on the pan, and open the oven door. Let’s just say it was a good thing there was a pan underneath the bag of marshmallows. The bag was split open, and the marshmallow goo had actually expanded across the pan. We quickly took the pan and put it in the sink so it could cool off. About ten minutes later, my grandmother comes into the room and says “Oh, what smells so good?” That would be the baked marshmallows, grandmother.

So thankfully, there wasn’t a big mess in the oven and we put the cookies in. We all sit around the table to talk, occasionally glancing at the marshmallows in the sink. You know, they look kind of good… Pretty soon, everyone had grabbed spoons and started eating the marshmallow goo off the pan. Even though there was probably melted plastic in the marshmallows.

It was good, though.

I dropped an 8-ounce can of mushrooms on my big toe once. It landed right on the base of the toenail, blackening it. It kept hurting so bad that I thought it was broken. But it was just a hematoma according to the doc who burned a hole in the nail to let the blood out.
Mr. Neville exploded a glass baking pan. He set it on a stove burner (this is something we have to do in our kitchen, because it is small and we have lots of gadgets) without checking if the burner was on. There were shards of blue glass all over the kitchen. We’re lucky it was blue- it made it a lot easier to find the pieces. He’s damn lucky- he didn’t even get a scratch on him from it.
.
I, on the other hand, did get an injury… weeks later. Turns out there was one bit of glass left on the floor, and while on my hands & knees cleaning the floor, I managed to shove it into my finger (right ring), just at the joint between the finger tip, and the ‘middle bone’. It stayed there for a couple of weeks until I got the liquid courage available to do a ‘home extraction.’ (No health insurance at the time  ).

I’ve also cut up hot peppers, without gloves, then tried to get frisky with the wife. Apparently _those_ membranes are particularly sensitive to capsaisin.

As a teen, I worked in a fish store, and learned after only one experience, to NEVER EVER TRY TO CATCH A FALLING KNIFE. Wasn’t cut badly, but it wasn’t a good experience.

It was throbbing and stinging last night. Today it’s hard for me to wear shoes or even slippers because of the pressure.
I wonder if I should try to drain it…

I was unable to sleep because of the pain every time it brushed against anything as tough and unyielding as air. But when the doc drained it, the pain went down to almost nothing right then and there.

I posted this a week or so ago - I was making cookies and noticed that the batter was softer and richer than usual. I put the first tray in the oven anyway, because you know, the dough isn’t always exactly the same. After they’d been in for about a minute, I saw my cup of flour sitting beside the sink. Hey, what’s that doing over there? Why isn’t it in my cookies? I scraped the cookies back into the bowl, added the flour, and put them back on the cookie sheet. They turned out okay. 🙂

> I nuked some ravioli in a small, semi-spherical bowl. When I got it out of the microwave, I was using a cloth rather than an actual pot holder. So it slipped out of my hand and fell about three inches onto the counter. Because of the shape of the bowl, the shock sent exactly one single ravioli rocketing straight into the air until it hit the ceiling. Whereupon it fell back down. Between the time it went up and came down, I had lurched forward to keep the bowl from bouncing around. So it came down on my neck just below my hairline and slipped down my back underneath the bathrobe I was wearing. Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever noticed the red spot on the ceiling.

ROTFLMAO. \*\*toad \*\*wins! \*\*toad \*\*wins!
