> No, in fact Sherlock Holmes \*was \*based on a real person, [Dr Joseph Bell](http://www.siracd.com/work_bell.shtml) .

Hmm, that’s interesting. It’s a bit of a stretch to say that Holmes was based on Bell in some greater way than any character of a story is based on someone the author has known in real life. Still, maybe that’s the right answer. Just to revive my ego a bit, Little Jack Horner pulled out a plumb, there are 50 States, and of them Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, and Maine start with “M”. Did I miss any? 🙂

Classic _Family Feud_ moment.

Question: Name something that droops.

Contestant: (buzzes in, blushes, hangs his head and mutters) Breasts.

It was on the board.

Groucho had a standard question he would ask of any contestant who won nothing: “Who’s buried in Grant’s tomb?”

One night he had a man on who was at least an octagenarian and hard of hearing. His answer?

“Me.”

Yep. True story. Philip Jose Farmer did an excellent bio of him called “Tarzan Alive.” Likewise, he wrote a book on James Clark Wildman, the real Doc Savage, in “Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life.”

I’ve played Family Feud for a local radio station a couple of times and done abominably (my answers aren’t really bad so much as I tend to misinterpret the questions quite badly), so I’m really in no place to make fun of others.

However,

At this juncture, it seems appropriate to bring up the episode of _Saturday Night Live_ where the Coneheads were on Family Feud.

In the big money round at the end:

DAWSON: “Name a famous explorer.”
CONEHEAD: “Zen 1-2-3.”
DAWSON: “Name something that goes with eggs.”
CONEHEAD: “Fiberglass.”
