My wife has some bluetooth earbuds. She’s had them several years and likes them. The problem is that the manual is worthless so when she has a new device to pair to, I have to google the instructions.
My last car, a Kia EV, had a ‘scheduled departure’ feature. I think it’s common on EVs, but for those that don’t know, it’s basically a ‘remote starter’ on a schedule. Tell it that you leave for work at 8am M-F and X minutes before that, it starts the climate control so your car is comfortable when you leave. Also, as a small bonus, if the car is plugged in, you’ll get into a comfortable car that’s still fully charged.
So, this Kia, for reasons that I don’t understand, only allowed two Scheduled Departure times per day. A quirk, but not the stupidest part of the design. I, like probably the majority of people, set it for when I leave for work, and when I leave work for home. Makes sense, right? The stupidest part is that this feature only worked when the car was plugged in. I’m willing to bet the vast majority of EV drivers don’t charge their car while at work, meaning this feature only worked when I was at home and, for all intents and purposes, meant I was only able to schedule one departure time per day.
And, since my car is parked in an attached garage, it’s barely necessary there either. Between that and the fact that the scheduled departure feature never worked properly*, I just didn’t use it on that car.
I love it on my current car. But it would be nice it there was some sort of pause or ‘skip next departure time’ feature.
*It had some sort of bug in the system where, despite being told to have the car ready at 8:00am Mon-Sat, I’d walk out to a comfortable car maybe 2 or 3 times a month. Just totally random.
It only recognizes me with glasses on. It isn’t phased by a hat, though. There are other log on options.
Since it sounds like you have the (useless) manual, perhaps write the pairing instructions in the manual with an old fashioned pen?
I’ve been meaning to post a Kia thing in this thread, too. I have a non-EV Kia, and use the Kia app to remotely turn my car on if it’s been parked outside and I’m going to use it soon. An update to the app recently changed so instead of starting at the screen with all the options for what to do, instead it often starts at a screen showing me the one car I have, and asking me which car I want to control. I select my car, and then it asks if I want to select it, or delete it. Only after I tell it I want to select it do I get to the screen where I can tell it to turn on.
My Kia was my first EV and when I got it EVs were still new enough that people would ask me about it. I always told them that, while I dislike the car, I love having an EV. All of my issues are Kia issues, not EV issues. IOW, I don’t have any issues with range or charging or torque (a lot of people assumed it had no power, but that car could spin it’s wheels on dry pavement if I punched the accelerator). My issues are things like a power window that never worked correctly, or the infotainment center would periodically lose a bunch of settings or it came with shitty tires that I could spin even on dry pavement.*
*My actual issue with those shitty tires was that after a light rain, I lost a lot of traction. Accelerating from a stop was like driving on ice.
