It is an awesome memorial and the ceremony dedicating it was very moving. Attending the memorial was a small group of NZ returned servicemen (I have a shocking memory but it was either 32 or 38) they were selected to attend the service by ballot. Conditions were over 20 yrs of service and combat service. My uncle was one of those selected (he lives in Brisbane now but had 27 yrs service and fought in Veitnam). He throughly enjoyed the whole experience and felt (finally) thanked for his service but he made this comment “If anyone ever slags off Camilla around me I will set them straight. She is a wonderful woman who was really interested and concerned about us” To the whole Royal debate…Long may they live! I am not Royalist but I am very anti NZ becoming a republic, the Queen is cheaper (for us) and so less partisan (she doesn’t give a shit!). My worst nightmare would be having Jim Bolger (a crusty old prime minister) as President. Long may Lizzie live! The Royalty serve us well (I think Charlie is way more savvy then he is given credit for…so long live Charlie too!) ---

My opinion of the Queen and monarchy is basically the same as **RickJay** ’s. (I didn’t know that the Queen puts her elbows on the table during a meal, but I had heard that it wasn’t considered bad manners anymore, anyway.) I’m taking the time to mention this because **Rodgers01** specifically asked for opinions from francophone Canadians. ---
