An interesting thing about the non-whites in the painting: Sequoyah (was he a Christian?) and the historical figures Tubman and Douglass stand at the very back. Closer to the forefront you have the “College Student”, who looks too much like Martin Luther King to be coincidental, and the Marine, whose name on his lapel is King and who looks more than a bit like MLK also. The non-white-of-some-variety immigrant has his back turned. Apparently this guy has never seen actual live non white people and can only draw famous ones. The most irritating thing to me about things like this is how unimaginative they are. And the fact that half the white guys were slaveowners- no problemo, slaveowning isn’t anywhere near as bad as being a liberal she-reporter or Supreme Court justice. And Thomas Jefferson’s expurgation of the Bible doesn’t mean he’s not a Fundie, it just means he liked arts and crafts— and Thomas Paine?! ---

I like that Jesus is holding the Constitution, as though he gave a fuck about representative government. ETA: Looks like one hell of a rainstorm is brewing over DC. You’d think the Son of God could have taken care of that. ---

Wow, just wow. I thought for sure you were referring to [this mural](http://www.flickr.com/photos/cngodles/3966097288/), located in my area. Cheesy primarily in that it was paid for by a “public benefactor” who stipulated that she be used as one of the characters (the sole female). However, your wins hands down. ---

I’m reminded of my cousins (the ones who ask for “anything by Kincaide” for Christmas) and know that they fully agree with EVERYTHING on this painting. On Thanksgiving and X-mas I will be subjected to a live version of this painting. I love how there’s no caption for Business Woman. The artist probably vacillilated over whether or not she was supposed to be with the damned or not since she’s obviously a shoe-wearing, lesbian, child-murdering liberal who’s not even cooking dinner for her man. ---
