i never do it. but somehow i am getting email notifcation for every thread i post in… i have checked and double checked to make sure i am not requesting to subscribe to any thread. i read through the FAQ and didn’t see anything about this… am i doing something wrong? please help the n00b. thanks. ---

You had “Use email notification by default” in your user settings checked to “yes.” It’s the default setting, so not your fault. I have changed it for you, but you can change it back whenever you like. (If you like.) Simply click on the “UserCP” button in the upper right hand corner of every SDMB page to access the User Control Panel. Hope this helps. All best. your humble TubaDiva Administrator ---

okay… you changed it, and i still got a notification… for this thread the last time i posted, last night. i checked again, and it’s set to\*\* not \*\*recieve email notification. am i crazy? ---

Yes, you’re crazy. In your post just above this, I can see that you have the “Email Notification” box checked on the newreply page. If you have Email Notification set to “on” by default in your control panel, you will need to “uncheck” that box **every** time you reply to a post, or you’ll receive notifications for that thread. If you have it “off” by default in your control panel, you shouldn’t need to do anything with that box; do not “check” it when replying to a thread. If you are “subscribed” to a thread, and no longer wish to receive notifications of new replies, follow the instructions in the last e-mail for _each_ thread to which you may have subscribed. If all this fails to help, I dunno what to tell you. ---

i swear to god, i didn’t check anything! if it is defaulted to “off” then i shouldn’t get emailed when i do not select the email notification… but i am still getting emailed. oh well. i give up. _shrug_ ---

Now wait. If you change the default to _do not subscribe_ then that will not un-subscribe you from all the threads that you’re already subscribed to. It will simply keep you from subscribing to more without selecting the box. ---

yeah there is… and i unsubscribed from this one at least once, and it didn’t work right. but it’s not sending updates to me any more, so maybe this board doesn’t hate me anymore. 😛 yay! ---
