My soon-to-be-15-year-old is having a birthday and I’m thinking one of these is a neat idea. But it seems to be a minefield. Does anyone have any experiences with such things. Preferably in the craft/art/geek universe? ---

I’ve only ever done birchbox. It’s a subscription for beauty products (makeup, hair products, etc.). I have been considering trying [Loot Crate](https://www.lootcrate.com/). Your daughter/son might like that one. ---

Give Lootcrate a try. This month’s box included a Dungeons and Dragons t-shirt, a Harry Potter luggage tag, an RPG bowtie, a deck of Princess Bride playing cards, a Game of Thrones USB drive, and some other neat stuff. All of it is family-friendly and under twenty bucks, delivered.
