# Subtle, PG-13 references in Weird Al's canon

I wouldn’t have considered this one especially provocative, but when I played _Hardware Store_ for my middle school students this line really caught their attention:

“Trailer hitch demagnetizers, automatic circumcisers…”

I understand your confusion. Why would you need to demagnetize a trailer hitch?

The nondenominational Church of Christ, which Mr. Yankovic was raised in, is actually quite conservative and fundamentalist, and they do not use musical instruments in their worship, which is quite ironic because he seems to be able to play just about everything.

Disciples of Christ is much more liberal, and has long been described as “Unitarians For Jesus.” Those two entities often get confused.

And, just to muddy the waters further, the United Church of Christ has nothing to do with the Church of Christ; the UCC is quite liberal as well.

A college friend of mine was a member of a Church of Christ, and the one particular thing I remember from him is that they believed that unless you were baptized by “full immersion” (i.e., completely dunked underwater), you hadn’t actually been baptized.
