# Sugar in toothpaste?

The fear of artificial sweetener in toothpaste might be overblown, whatever they’re using these days.

My toothpaste instructions say “Do not swallow.” So all the exposure you should get is whatever is absorbed while brushing.

Aside from the fact the information is outdated (yeah, I know, the article is from 1978), what the hell does that mean? Brazen frauds? In what way? It’s gum. It’s supposed to be gum. It claims to be gum. Where is the fucking fraud?

For many decades, Dentyne gum was specifically advertised as an alternative to brushing. (It actually did, as I recall, do a decent job of gross cleaning.)
