Suggest a "buy now, eat in 4 months" meal

Dried pasta and some cans of diced tomatoes. The tomatoes should be one of the kinds that are hopped up with lime juice and cilantro. The acid really helps brighten up the dish, which is a big problem when you’re cooking from shelf-stable foods.

There are good ideas here for more elaborate meals, but how heavy and involved do you want to get late at night after a long flight? If it were me, I’d be good with crackers, peanut butter, and bed. Maybe some perishable snacks laid in at the airport prior to takeoff.

I mostly enjoy freeze dried meals when backpacking. These days there’s a huge variety with meals ranging from Pad Thai to red beans and rice to fettuccine alfredo. This brand is pretty good.

Fair warning: I have only ever eaten these meals in the woods where most things tend to taste pretty good.
