Sorry–you said draw, and I imagined something more serene than being surrounded by forced Disney activities! Yes, be prepared to have characters with megaphones try to enlist you in activities and food contests.
I’ve been so I know… But I think I was as excited as she was.
My absolute favorite was Horace the Horse. I think I made his day because I knew who he was.
All things told, I prefer drawing and such, but she’s only going to be a little kid for so long. I will (sadly) have lots of solo drawing time in 10 years.
You should get off the beaten path and seek out St.Vincent. It hasn’t been found yet so things are very affordable once you get there. You have to fly through someplace like Barbados first. Rent a villa or apartment and save over the cost of a bad hotel. There are amazing beaches but also rain-forests and waterfalls and easy day trips to other islands via ferries. There is a turtle sanctuary and easy snorkeling in shallow waters. They call it Tahiti of the Caribbean. Super friendly locals everywhere. I did a cruise years ago and would never do it again. Good luck and happy travels.
We went to Universal Studios last Dec. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is just breath takingly awesome!!! Plus if you stay on property, the pools are great plus you can get into the park an hour before it opens and get fast track passes which makes the lines shorter.
You could both run yourselves ragged w/ things to do in Charleston, SC; schools will be out as well so there will be tons of kids from Folly Beach (fun, touristy, laidback to the extreme) to Isle of Palms (upscale, nice facilities, pricey).
The Netherlands. Lots of kid-friendly beaches, and there is a gazillion things to do for you to do within a hour’s travelling range. If you shop around, your ticket here could cost as little as 500 both ways for you and the kid, and accomodation starts at 50 bucks a night for a hotel. Plus, the sun here is warm but doesn’t fry the kids. And, hey, culture plus having been to Europe.
Cancun.
Beaches at a resort for her.
Architecture for me. I’ve always wanted to see the pyramids.
Plus! My daughter can get to know some of her culture better.
Thank you all for your help. Some are bookmarked for the next time (the Wales trip, especially)
I adore the Netherlands so much. I loved Utrecht and the smaller cities. The problem is my vacation time is firmly set in June.
Tickets are not by any means that low from DFW during the summer.
Where is your favorite beach city?
