The theme: love Criteria for the songs: Only rock songs. This could include classic rock (60s and 70s), 80s rock, metal or anything hard like that, early 90s-era grunge rock, late 90s and recent stuff. No pop-rock. Songs can be fast or slow songs. Basically, songs with really good lyrics that make you think about someone you love, or what you would say to the one you love if you were a good writer. Or, songs about love lost, missing the one you love, or anything along those lines. THANKS guys! I will post my setlist after I have picked the songs and made the CD! ---

I did something like this a few months ago, only mine were all sad love songs. I don’t have the list memorized, but a few of the ones I included were: Wicked Game - Chris Isaak Unintended - Muse Face of Melinda - Opeth Slow Chemical - Finger Eleven For You - My Dying Bride I’ll Be - Edwin McCain A Question of Heaven - Iced Earth Touch - Jonny Lang Evidence - Katatonia Entwined - Lacuna Coil Nothing Else Matters - Metallica Dreaming Neon Black - Nevermore Ghost Love Score - Nightwish Thou Art Free - Saturnus It’s Been Awhile - Staind That seems to be all I can think of right now. ---

Forever - KISS (written w Michael Bolton) I’d Die For You - Bon Jovi (on my Yahoo Radio station right now) Wild Child - W.A.S.P. (ok, pretty much on the heavy metal side, but they can’t all be sappy ballads, right?) In Your Arms - Little Ceasar (personal favorite) Alone Again - Dokken (next song on the Yahoo station) I Saw Red - Warrant (pure sap power ballad, nice hook though) And So It Goes - Billy Joel (if you really want to depress the crap out of your audience) ---

To the OP, I’ve always been partial to R.E.M.'s “One I Love” and that one Cranberries single whose name I can’t remember (“Free to Decide”?). ---

REM is cool, but I think the Cranberries would be too poppy for me (plus I don’t usually like chick singers, so let’s try to stick with male singers if possible). ---
