**gex gex** , good call on _Hello and Goodbye_… I was trying to come up with some appropriate Ataris songs and couldn’t think of any right away. JEW is good too – (Jimmy Eat World) – their whole album _Clarity_ has always had sort of a cathartic effect for me… it’s incredibly emotional music. Songs like _Crush_ and _On a Sunday_ really make me sad. _Out of Reach_ is definitely my favorite Get Up Kids song, but is it really a broken heart kind of thing? I mean I guess the song is sort of about that, but I dunno if it’s one of those things you want to listen to when you’re feeling down, in the same way. And _Mass Pike_ is just so cheery, with those keys in the background. At any rate, **secretkeeper78** , do check out Bright Eyes, and I hope you feel better. **gex gex** ’s recommendations are all great too. And if you (or anyone else who’s interested) are looking for divorce-type broken hearted songs, Bright Eyes’ label mates Cursive put out a whole album on the theme of an intense relationship gone awry, check it out, it’s called Cursive’s Domestica. Beautiful, amazing stuff. ---

Dagnabbit, **cmkeller**! I was hoping nobody else would mention _Look Away_! (Although I think that was Peter Cetera during his solo career, after he left Chicago.) I have to second New Found Glory’s “Hit or Miss” mostly just because I really like the song (other then the annoying bit at the beginning…) but it is a good break up song. Strange, I just went through a nasty break up and I didn’t even notice till now what it was really about. Anyways, to chime in on another recommendation, I love Alanis Morisette, but -only- her Jagged Little Pill album. The rest, frankly, suck, in my opinion. In particular, I recommend “You Oughta Know.” And maybe, when you feel a little better, “You Learn.” The other song that I haven’t seen mentioned here yet (I’m suprised…) is “In the End” by Linkin Park. Yeah, that stupid little nu-metal band that outsold Nsync. It’s a suprisingly beautiful and gentle song that really touched me for some reason. It reminds me painfully of my recent breakup – it described it so well. Maybe you’ll find some comfort in it as well. “I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart what it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time I tried so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn’t even matter I had to fall to lose it all and in the end it doesn’t even matter.” You’ve probably heard it before. If it doesn’t make you ill from being overplayed to death yet, I advise you to listen to it. –Tanaqui ---

Last time I had a broken heart, I played Don Henley’s **“The Heart of the Matter”** until I had to buy a new CD. It is a song about forgiveness, and I am a BIG believer in forgiveness. You can’t get on with life until you have forgiven. Sorry you are hurting, hon…hope you feel better as soon as you have wallowed enough. Yes, a certain amount of wallowing is necessary too.
