I think we must be careful in our description of suicide bombers. Concerning the Japanese Kamikaze’s, the Charge of the Light Brigade, any German suicide attacks on allied bombers, etc. a full state of war existed between both sides, and those attacks were carried out on military targets. Anyone will acknowledge that war necessitates death, and that people die committing acts of war, but these attacks are not what the OP has in mind.
Perhaps a definition is in order
How about a person who committs an attack, while not in wartime, upon a group of people or a structure, knowing that he/she will not survive.
