My first Tilley was a skosh too small. I adopted a shorter haircut style – also appropriate for summer heat. The hat fit perfectly with my closer-shorn coif.

> Maybe invest in a [hat stretcher](https://www.amazon.com/Wooden-Stretcher-Unisex-Adjustable-Turnbuckle/dp/B07Z3GKGPG/ref=asc_df_B07Z3GKGPG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416711550386&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15359849326346677277&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9006140&hvtargid=pla-882964853455&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=95577039242&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416711550386&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15359849326346677277&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9006140&hvtargid=pla-882964853455). I like to buy a hat that fits just a bit too snug, then stretch it just a bit.

I glanced at the list of alternatives for sale, and was surprised by the breadth of available styles — especially since I didn’t know “hat stretchers” was even a thing. Maybe they have some alternative function involving sex or illegal drugs.
