**Winnie** , darling, you’re more than welcome to our “spring” weather - it’s been over 100 degrees every day for 2 weeks or so, now. At 10am today it was already 102 - and the A/C in my Jeep is still on vacation. Honey, come on down - be more than happy to share the warmth with someone who would truly appreciate it.
Welcome to sunny Tucson…now take some heat with you when you leave.

There’s something very wrong here today in Baltimore.
It started out normally enough, dreary gray sky, drizzling rain, just like it’s been for weeks on end.

Then, about 3:00, something scary happened. The sky turned this weird blue color. There were these little puffy white things in the sky. And there was this big round yellow thing in the sky, just blazing away. It was warm and bright. I think the big round yellow thing may have had something to do with it.

Anyway, people were stumbling around outside, looking up at the weird blue sky, pointing and squinting. It was just bizarre.

It was scary, though. I don’t know if we can handle that much excitement again tomorrow.

Dudes, weren’t y’all last year under water-use restrictions? This is just all the water they forgot to send you between 99 and 02.

And really, anyone eager for full-blown Chesapeake summers must own an air conditioner business.

Yes, we were in a serious drought condition last year. Between this current rain and the 10 feet of snow this past winter, I think we’re all caught up. :smack:

No, don’t get me wrong. I **HATE** the full-blown hazy, hot and humid Chesapeake summers here. Our central AC stays on from July till mid-September.
It’s the pleasant spring-time weather that we’re missing that I like. It should be 70° and sunny, with a nice cool breeze, and _no_ humidity.

I’m the same way. 1996–Five days after I moved to North Carolina, Hurricane Fran came through Raleigh. 1998–A week before I moved back to New York, a tornado touched down a few miles from my house. A month _after_ I moved back to NY, we had those awful spring storms (tornados, microbursts in Mechanicville).

Oh yeah. I’m the harbinger of bad weather.

I want warm weather. I want warm weather NOW. I just bought lots of snazzy new summer clothes and sandals and _I can’t wear any of them!!!_

They’ve been languishing in the closet quite long enough. Good grief, I’m still wearing sweaters I was wearing in March, for heaven’s sake. To whom do I complain?

It seems like New York has become a 2-season type of town. No spring, no fall. Just winter and summer. Shame. I liked the spring and fall best. Still . . .

I love the city when it is grey outside. Many of the buildings are highly reflective so the whole city takes on this whole film noir feel that I really dig. I like the night and the grey gritty streets of wet days. It makes me feel like I am in a movie. Maybe it’s the cool murder story and I’m the gruff PI (rough exterior with a heart of gold) whose thirst for women and lust for booze has him on the edge of oblivion. Till that dame walked in to my office. That beautiful, sexy, trouble-making dame that knows what she wants and will do anything to get it. Including murder? That’s what I was at this Irish pub to find out that darrk, stormy, night.

Or maybe it’s the horror movie and some evil is taking over the city. There is nothing like coming over the Williamsburg bridge and seeing the city glowing within a ton of fog. Haunting. It feels like a bad movie for sure. I pretty much hated the movie “[Fear.com](http://Fear.com)” but they had a great line. Two detectives come out of the police station towards the middle of the movie and for the first time the sun is out. The whole movie was very grey and dark and the color looked so out of place. One detective says “Hey the clouds are moving out.” and the other responds “Yeah, but another storm is moving in.” as if he had recently checked the weather. It was kind of a nod at how silly it was that the city was ALWAYS rainy/cloudy when something spooky was about to happen. I almost feel like whatever movie I’m in (ala “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”) must be about to reach some crucial plot development when the weather gets bizarre.

Anyway . . .

</div>

**DaLovin’ Dj** , that’s one of the things I loved about New York City during my own brief visit late this winter. To a small-town girl, ANY day in the city feels like a movie. I have to find time to get back there before I leave.

I definitely appreciate intense heat more than cold. It feels so unnatural to have to bundle up to go outside for a few minutes and then strip everything when you come back in, race out to your car because it’s so wet and chilly you can’t stand it, and feel like you want to curl up and hibernate until the sun makes its way around. Heat feels so invigorating to me… while I must say 102 is quite excessive, I didn’t complain once last year during the Summer of Hell 2002.

I’m with **Winnie**. I actually like when it’s hot. I think I complained a couple of times in the Summer of Hell, but only because I had to commute 125 miles round trip every day in rush hour with no AC, and a heavy uniform shirt.

Well after last nights thunderstorms, and floods, the sun has been out in full force for a glorious 6 hours. At least my office has a window. Too bad it doesn’t open.

I know I am probably in the minority, but I love cooler weather. Autumn and Spring are the best and even Winter (without the snow) suits me fine…

Recently, during a friendly chat with a dermatologist, I announced my intention of trying for the world record suntan this summer (should summer arrive). She started up with the obligatory “skin damage due to sun exposure is cumulative” yadda yadda and I think the look I gave her made her stop dead then switch to “but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of sunbathing”. Yessss.

_…shirtless with a plateful of steaks at Kn_ckers imaginary SDMB barbecue…\*

Whoa, are you nuts? Step back from there, it’s already hot enough outside without standing so close to the grill. If you’re going to stand there, better get yourself a beer from the fridge. Get me one too while you’re there.

What part of Florida? We’ve had rain almost nonstop for the last week in West Palm Beach. The flooding on the road to my office just started receding this afternoon.
