You too? I got that book a few years ago and really, really enjoyed the first three chapters. Then I got an internet connection.
I’ll have to find time to read in between sanding and refinishing the kitchen cabinet doors and repainting the room, though. And then redoing the floor. And the living room needs painting too, come to think of it. And the skylights have to be replaced, the tub surround needs regrouting, and I really should do something about the back yard.
Oh well. David Foster Wallace is more of a winter writer anyway, isn’t he?

1. Do summer internship things; alternately, do desktop publishing as a temp or something
2. Attend Bobs concerts
3. Attend Dopapalooza
4. Attend GatewayCon, meet Bruce Campbell and Frank Contiff, die happy
5. Renew driver’s license, get better pic this time
6. Work fruitlessly on a cappella arrangements
7. Finish _Infinite Jest_ (I’m almost halfway through!)
8. Build stunningly beautiful webpage
9. Battle Snood/Alchemy/Bejewled addiction
10. Find someone who can draw, create genius comic strip together
11. Play Black & White
12. Organize Camp Heartland benefit, attend concert

Actually, I _don’t_ know what I’m doing. That’s why I’m doing the garage before the living room. It’s detached, so if it burns down, it’s not as big of a problem.

**Strain** , my friend, I have one word for you: Servicemaster. They do a great job and it’s worth it to not have to do it yourself.

**frobozz** , the wiring is the easy part. I’d hire an electrician to actually install it in the box for you. That’s the most dangerous part (unless you completely disconnect the power to the entire house. But then you can’t see 'cause it’s dark and you have to reset all the clocks and etc, etc.). Hire him/her for an hour and it’ll be worth it. I wouldn’t wire the garage onto an existing line (i.e. the kitchen lights). Give it its own separate breaker. Not that you asked for advice! 😃

Thanks for the advice, **BunnyGirl**. The method you described is how I was planning to work. And my dad’s an electrician, so I ought to be all right with the connections.
Of course, if I _do_ burn the garage down, maybe my GF’s mom won’t ask me to do any more work around the house. Between burning the garage down and felling the tree on top of the car, I think I can wiggle out of the rest of it. 😃

That’s why I included the “barring that, just somebody elses house” part. Good luck; I second what BunnyGirl said; hire an electrician (or hook your dad - that’s what I did for plumbing) and have them put in a subpanel. That’s probably the way I’m going to do it.

I expect to spend most of my free time on LARP stuff.
LARP-related:
1. Build props for an upcoming IFGS game (a vending machine for magic crystals and a Plot Device, in particular)
2. Finish the script for _my_ game, “Knightshade”, to the shock and dismay of all the LARPers in my little club.
3. Write a Zork-based IFGS game (someone challenged me, so Lord Erroneous Flathead is going to have a little problem).
4. Make the props for “Knightshade”, with the expectation of producing it in the fall. Now, where did I leave my copy of _How to Build a Corpse_?
5. Start scripting the sequel, either “Fair Lady Donna” or “Mandrake”.
Other:
1. Get my programming skills back up to par.
2. Are you kidding? I don’t have as much energy as BunnyGirl. That’s enough.

Let’s see…
1. Remove 2 doors leading off our kitchen, and reinstall new ones. We remodeled it, changing from dark wood to a medium oak, and the doors don’t match.
2. Tear off the old deck in back, and build a patio.
3. Move 3-4 pines from front yard to the back yard. I have no idea why the former owners planted those trees where they are.
4. Go to a week of scout camp with Ralf. Jr, and another week backpacking in the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
5. Spend a long, long weekend in Florida with in-laws, and a couple of short days over by the Kennedy Space Center.
6. If there’s time, I’m supposed to finish the basement, too.
For fun, I’m going to sleep.
**Bunnygirl** , try asking Raupp Campfitters or some of the other camping/outdoor stores if they can recommend a kayaking instructor, or for any info on the Lansing Oar and Paddle Club. If you want to kayak, you should take a class. I took one through the Haslett/Okemos/E. Lansing adult ed program, and loved it. The instructor brought in 5-6 different boats for each class, and we got a chance to try different styles, models, etc. It was worth it! I’ll send you the instructor’s name and phone # offline.

Summer summer _checks her schedule_
Well right now all my Saturdays and the week before the 3rd of August are booked up with practice for the Opening ceremonies. So I’m busy most of July.
Summer school (I need to take CALM… stupid gov’t makes me)
Maybe a week in Fairmont BC (depends if the Grandparents go to their time share there which depends on how well Grandpa feels)
Working (if I have a job by then _is searching_)
Maybe helping to build the back deck with Dad. He’s replacing it as a surprise to the Grandparents cuz the deck looks terrible and he doesn’t have the time to sand and repaint… so he’s just gonna replace the whole darn thing.
And that’s just July. August I have nothing definate right now so I might work on my web page more and finally finish it up. Most likely visit me mum in Calgary. Do lots of biking (I plan to be in at least decent physical condition this summer). Read a bunch of books, whatever takes my fancy, maybe I’ll finally read Lord of the Rings. And maybe convince Dad to take us out camping. Or maybe take a trip with him (he promised me he’d take a trip with me this year. Maybe horseback riding.)
That’s all I got so far for summer. Who knows what more might turn up.

4. Cruise south along the intracoastal for a week, then cruise back north for another week

Well, I’m looking at surgery sometime in May, and I don’t have any set plans other than that, but here is my wish list:

[li] Finish rose garden (finish sprinkler, add walkway, mulch)[/li][li] Clean gutters[/li][li] Clean garage[/li][li] Put some items on e-bay[/li][li] Dig up largest holly bush and plan what goes there next[/li][li] Replace curtains in Dining Room.[/li][li] Price having the floors re-done in Pergo[/li][li] Host a pool party! (replace glass in patio table, get new table for breakfast area and clean it up, general house cleanup)[/li][/ul]
My lists usually don’t have a scheduled completion date, I just keep finishing up stuff and adding stuff.
