Zapping frozen fettucine alfredo with chicken and broccoli, plan to also consume some “Aussie” yogurt (Noosa brand, for those who care) to deal with a less-than-happy digestive system. The foot feels worse than it did a few days ago, I haven’t slept much for two nights, and I think I’m getting cramps. No, I am NOT Ms. Sunshine and Sparklies today, TYVM. Bonus points for arthritic hips acting up due to the suddenly cloudy/cooler/20% chance of rain weather we’ve shifted to very suddenly. Obtaining a decent Creamsicle clone at Target helped a bit (the Nestle attempt at same just isn’t right). ---

We get more of a barometric change taking an elevator in a skyscraper, and the body is very sensitive of temperature. If inside us is not 98.6 or 96.8, whatever the hell it is supposed to be, things go very wrong. Even three degrees inside is very bad news. Yay **2gig**!!! I tolerate all of you (or something) - I think? Or is that just the guys? Another team member quit today. None of my direct reports, but this is the second member of our larger team that has quit this week, third in last 30 days. Hmm _taps finger on forehead_ I wonder if there’s something going on at work. I wonder if people are unhappy. Dinner is the Colonel tonight. I do miss some of the chicken take out from back by the Mississippi. You can keep your funnel clouds though. ---

So. _Sharknado 2_. A passable bad film, although not as much fun as the first one. It was a delight to see both Wil Wheaton and Kelly Osbourne get eaten in the first five minutes of the film, but not as much fun as it was to see Perez Hilton get eaten while waiting for a subway. It took me entirely too long to remember Mark McGrath was the lead singer of Sugar Ray, of which lack I am especially ashamed because the man has not changed his hairstyle since 1998. Tara Reid tried to channel Ash from _Evil Dead_ and failed. Perhaps if she had tried to reprise the lead in _The Deadly Mantis_ she would have succeeded because dear lord the woman looks like a stick insect. Of especial note: the joke about Jared the Subway Guy was cancelled due to recent events. Oopsie. The cinematography I feel deserves a special mention because I have seen better camera work on the local news. **giggity** , you are way overqualified to work on Sharknado. Stand proud, sir. ---

Leftovers spelled backwards ----- makes them sound ethnic and exotic. It was a traditional word in the Old Wench’s family from before she was born. Germans, ya know? If they aren’t invading some country, they’re making up new words. 🙂 (Back when I first met her, she and her brother insisted that Muvver had served leftovers for so long that no one remembered just what the original meal had been. I’ve always had a strong feeling they stole that one from Reader’s Digest.) ---

“Leftovers from Scratch”, besides being a great band name, brought to mind a business just a wee bit up Rt 5 north. It’s called [The Used Car Factory](http://www.shoptheusedcarfactory.com/). The name makes my head hurt. And, naturally, they do their own commercials, which are as horrific as you could imagine. Moving on. Yep, up too early. Someone didn’t lock the bedroom door last night when he came to bed, so Taz came a’calling about 4 this morning. Shortly before 5, Higgs started barking. I’d been awake, so I just let \*\*FCD \*\*sleep in. Higgs has had her morning kibbles, I’ve had a PB&J and I’m caffeinating. It’s already nearly 80 and muggy outside. My big plan for today is to kill the poison ivy!! We’re promised a dry weekend, and the poison killer needs 24 hours to dry and do its thing, so it works out. I may also pull some weeds, depending on how I feel. And somewhere along the line, I’ll need to empty the dishwasher because we’re out of teaspoons in the drawer. Exciting day, no? I feel oddly rested, so I must have slept well, if not very long. So it might be a decent day after all. Happy Firday! ---

I am at irk. It is irksome. The building refurbishment has reached the hammering, drilling and generally ridiculously noisy stage this week. Clearly not the week to have a bunch of visiting worthies having a translation workshop upstairs. And especially not when we have no water supply and no functioning toilets in our building. I did offer them a room in the building next door but that’s not much better as someone’s making a film in there so it is still fairly noisy. I actually don’t have much to do so I am busy trying to look busy. I’ve run a report on incoming students for next academic session just so I have something large and fancy on the screen that most people won’t have a clue what I’m doing with it. I am off to the wilds of Glesgae this weekend, it’s ‘im indoors’ mother’s birthday so there’s a family gathering across the border in the land of the nearly-independent. It’ll be a short trip really, going up by train tomorrow morning and leaving tomorrow lunchtime to get home late afternoon…just in time for me to hit them gym again. Not a lot else going on at the moment, irk is very quiet now that the exam furore has died down and the students have left, most of the academics are irking from home instead of coming into the building site too so even if we need to talk to them, there’s nobody around. Just us chickens… ---
