The song that screams hot, sweaty summer to me has nothing to do with the season, but it was _thee_ song of the summer of 1978: the Stones’ “Miss You.” _Stumblin’ on mah feet…shufflin’ t’roo da street…askin’ people…chk chk chk… **Whatsa matter witchoo, boy???** _ ---

From the 50’s movie, sung by Jimmie Rodgers, _The Long Hot Summer_ From that era: Soft Summer Breeze A Song for a Summer Night The Summer Knows (Michel Legrand from _Summer of '42_) And one I associate with summer, Glen Campbell’s _Southern Nights_. ---

The first dozen or so times I ever heard it, it was the shorter, single version on A.M. radio. The first time I heard the full version (on FM) I was a teenager laying on a beach near St. Petersburg, Florida. It blew me away. I can still smell the coconut sun tan lotion (not sunscreen!). ---
