> It’s broken and that bugs me, but it will cost $1500 to fix. $1500 isn’t tooooo bad, but I never use the clock anyway so why fix it? Well, just having a broken part in the dashboard annoys me and is kind of lame. But to fix it they have to get behind the dash which is a whole lot of work and they could mess up so many other things while they are there. But I didn’t buy a BMW just to have a broken clock mocking me from the dashboard - everything should work!

I think the usual summoning call is “Why does BMW put such cheapass cupholders in the E39???”

At least you can that your clock is broken. My displays are pixellated, so every day is a new adventure in decoding! 😃

I’ve had decent luck summoning BMW guys by leaving 4/5ths of a BMW-length gap ahead of me in traffic.

_“Cheapass”?_ Those motherfuckers have 47 moving parts! Those are\*\* German Engineered! \*\*There is nothing “cheapass” about them!

(Other than they don’t work and break easily)

The e30 has NO cupholders at all. I don’t think the Germans caught on to having a soda in the car till about 1993.

I blame Octoberbest.

When stationed over there I discovered for some reason that cupholders were sort of met by some with contempt. I’m not exactly sure why, although driving in general is taken very seriously and maybe this is considered a dangerous distraction or somesuch.
