Because if there’s anything a potential new customer likes, it’s being talked to like he’s a four-year-old. So, Sun Country executives, I’m going to take a silent vote. Please close your eyes and place your heads on the table. How many of you would like a politely-worded letter of complaint stating that I find your ads somewhat insulting? Raise your hands. Funny, I opened this thread, and right as that happened, the commercial in question came on. Basically, there is a flight attendant on a Sun Country airplane, and she is asking people to vote for if they want a cheeseburger, or nothing. But first, they have to put their heads on their trays because it’s a secret vote. One guy tries to peek, and she says “no peeking!” Everyone votes for cheeseburgers, and the flight attendant says “cheeseburgers it is!” The point is that SC is offering complimentary food on their flights now. I didn’t find it condescending. Free cheeseburgers!! ---

Really? Of all the idiot assed advertising on the air, that’s the ad you want to pit? It nicely sets out precisely what the difference is that they’re advertising, while making it clear that they’re doing it because it’s what people want. ---

Except I’ve seen almost precisely that happen about a zillion times in grocery stores–a new lane opens and 98 people jump into it, making the line for it 3 times longer than all the other lines. ---

Hey, those are pretty good ads. I think perhaps you don’t like the “Minnesota cute” style of advertising. I think they’re pretty effective at establishing a key premise: if you, the customer, got a vote, you would choose for them to act as they do. Which is in some cases different from how other airlines act. Consequently, they are a better airline for you. Works for me. ---

I never heard of this airline before this thread, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. I was surprised to find that it’s been around since 1982.
