> I know people who do timeshares are are very pleased, but they went into it knowing what they were looking for. One family has 3 kids with autism and for them, the ability to have a specific place to stay was good. The other, a couple, had a 2-weeks-every-other-year thing in the Caribbean, an area they love to visit.

If you think a Timeshare is good for you, then just buy one on the secondary market for pennies on the dollar- plus of course full monthly/annual fees.

Disney Vacation Club timeshares can be a good deal.

I’ve heard someone say (on this board, I think) that one way to deal with the hard-sell tactics is to sound agreeable to everything, but say you need your lawyer to look over any agreements before you’ll sign. The sales staff won’t have a good rebuttal for “Sounds great! Give me the paperwork and I’ll have my lawyer look it over.”
