I’ve heard someone say (on this board, I think) that one way to deal with the hard-sell tactics is to sound agreeable to everything, but say you need your lawyer to look over any agreements before you’ll sign. The sales staff won’t have a good rebuttal for “Sounds great! Give me the paperwork and I’ll have my lawyer look it over.”
