Not a lot of good ads in that batch. Probably the only one I’ll remember a few weeks from now is the one about the Opiod Induced Constipation. And that only because it was an alarming revelation to me that there are apparently enough people in the US on prescription Opiods to make it worth spending $5,000,000 on an ad to sell a drug to relieve a side effect. Yikes. ---

Didn’t see every ad, but what I saw didn’t impress me much. The Antman-Hulk at least paid a bow to the franchise, and I always have a soft spot for weiner dogs, but the Doritos commerical was gross and crude and most of the rest were no better than what you get on an average TV day. And yeah, I don’t tune into the Super Bowl to see my intestinal tract… ---

Others noticed that the kid is a ketchup packet, although I missed it. I did notice that the Organic Ketchup appears to be a crunchy granola hipster. So what is a “pillock”, and how do you spell it? No heartstring-tugging Clydesdales this year? WTF? Favorites: Scott Baio avocados, weiner dogs, singing sheep. But mostly, one that has entirely escaped notice – BMW, with the 4 guys going to the game and checking off their superstitious rituals…because that is so familiar. I always have to make sure to park in the lucky parking spot. Worst: puppymonkeybaby. Good god, what were they thinking, and how many people got fired today for that. ---

I liked the avocados, the Prius, and Doritos ultrasound ads but I can understand why others wouldn’t like the Doritos ad. I found the walking bowel pretty funny in an absurd way. Starman was good. The one with Dan Marino was dumb except for the quick band-and-forth about Superbowl/Oscar wins. Kudos to Marino for finally having a sense of humor about it. I wish we could outlaw toenail fungus ads. ---

Could someone tell me if I am hallucinating this but wasn’t there a laxative ad; the guy was walking down the street and seeing all kinds of symbols of going, not going, fastness, slowness; he sees a snail in a window. The product comes on and the end is him seeing a beautiful young chick leaving a doorway trailing toilet paper from her high heel shoe and him smiling? ---

Yup, but not actually for laxatives (at least, not the typical kind); it was about constipation caused by taking opiod drugs, and (I’m guessing) treatment for that. ---
