Black Eyed Peas. First contemporary pop act they’ve had in awhile. I’d like to see the contract they had to sign to ensure they wouldn’t do anything controversial.
Overall, pretty good, but the sound seemed off.

I’ll admit, I was watching mainly hoping for a wardrobe malfunction.
And yeah, the audio was horrible. The background music wasn’t nearly loud enough, and the mics weren’t all at the same volume. It looked like Will handed off his mic to Taboo at one point.

Also part of the V in Love did not light up. Fergie’s mic did not work at all for the first 10 seconds or so.

That was one of the worst half time shows I’ve seen. They can never get the audio right. I felt like I was watching a parody of half time shows.

Obviously a big part of the problem is no real sound check, they just rush everything on the field and hope it works.

I’ve never heard anything from the black eyed peas before (well except that retarded song on clips from TV shows), so I was curious and went to youtube to see if their music was just that horrible or if the show for some reason was mangled.
It has got to be the worst pop music I’ve ever heard in my life. It’s just horrible. Who the fuck listens to this shit? And I don’t mean that in an elitist sense - corporate pop music is often simple and bland and soulless and empty, but it’s often at least catchy and makes musical sense in terms of melody and structure. Even generic corporate pop like backstreet boys is a million times better than this garbage.
Their most popular video is the “boom boom pow” song, which has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Who the hell listens to this shit, and how can I ensure that they don’t breed?

Yeah. I like Fergie but thought that was pretty bad. And **Sweet Child of Mine** needs to stay a Guns ‘n’ Roses anthem, whether Slash plays on it or not. Egad.

I thought that was by far the best rendition of any of the songs they performed (which isn’t an endorsement of any of it). It was if they were trying to reinvent the opening to the Winter Olympics in 20 minutes. Take all the time and money spent on choreography and lighting and invest it in sound equipment. Then let the fans on the field to enjoy the show.
It would be better if they got someone who can carry a show on pure talent like Elton John. Piano, microphone annnnnnd go.

Like **SenorBeef** , I, too, browsed the BEP’s videos on YouTube and like **SenorBeef** my reaction was WTF? It’s hip-hop for the trailer-park crowd.
