Then, watch Alanis Morisette’s hilarious [parody](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRmYfVCH2UA%5B/url). (My personal favorite bit is from 2:05 to 2:35.)
If nothing else, it’ll help you plug more into a minor blind spot in the cultural zeitgeist.

For what it’s worth, I saw Slash perform Sweet Child O’ Mine with his solo band just last night, when he was opening for Ozzy Osbourne in Tacoma, and it was definitely the highlight of his set.

I sure as fuck wasn’t. Have you seen Fergie’s face? Good God…she looks very “mannish,” to me. I’ll be the first to admit she has a smokin’ body, but that butterface and her propensity to pee herself on stage while performing overshadows that.

The Super Bowl halftime show was by the Black Eyed Peas. There’s no way I was watching those artistic atrocities even though I watched the game at a bar. Thankfully the bar is a block away from my apartment, so I went home at halftime and watched an episode of “Sanford and Son” on Antenna TV–way more entertaining. Did you watch, and if you didn’t what did you do instead?

I thought it was kind of cool. But–and it’s a big but–I was at a relatively noisy restaurant and could barely hear it. I generally find this to be the best way to appreciate the BEPs.
Visually it was stunning.

I actually like the Black Eyed Peas, but that was a pretty unimpressive halftime show. The music just doesn’t lend itself very well to the halftime-show format, the music choices were bad, badly mixed, and badly performed. I’ve never seen any other live BEP music, so it may simply be a band that doesn’t do well live. Pale in comparison to the Stones, The Who, and Prince in recent years.

No, I never watch any parts of football games at all, not even the Superbowl commercials. I used to catch glimpses of games when I was flipping through channels, but with the onscreen channel guides, I don’t even do that, I just flip through the listings until I see one that I might want to watch.

I give them some credit for singing instead of lipsynching, although I kind of thought the sets were designed and/or created by Blue Man Group, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The appearance by Slash was cool, but seeing that other guy wasn’t.

I watched the game. Due to a few events around the house, it was time-shifted about 20 minutes (via Tivo). I watched about 20 seconds of the half-time show then accelerated to the end. I thought it was ridiculous.

I watched for a while, but hated it. I’m not much for the half time show anyway, but I really wondered if they hit their demographic. I did watch the full game.

Actually, I did see those two videos when they were brought up in last months thread about “good song covers”.
Like I said - the BEP’s seem to be hip hop for the trailer park set.

Watched it, hated it, made fun of it, started wishing for aging rock legends to take over the stage. Two observations:
1. The on stage dancers had boxes on their heads. Boxes. Boxes with holes cut out for their eyes. Did the costume designer go shopping at the Container Store?
2. The LED suit of armor would be awesome for the referee. Instead of calling the penalty with his arms, the suit could spell out the infraction instead.

Ok, so Metal Hair Guy and Fergie seem to do 90% percent of all of the stuff, what exactly do Mohawk Dude and Flashing Tonto bring to the table? Are they like the people who drive the tour bus?

I enjoyed it. I don’t like that type of music normally but I discovered how many of the dogs that I enjoy at the clubs are done by the BEPs. I thought the Who show last year was mch more of a mess and I’m actually a fan of theirs. I guess it because of my low expectations that I enjoyed it although the sweet child rendition was painful.

I kind of like the Black Eyed Peas, despite not being their usual target demographic.
And I actually don’t think they performed badly – but they sounded _awful_. Something was wrong with the mix or the music playback, or something. It just sounded like crap.
And yeah, the whole production was overblown and hokey, but that’s par for the course and I could have forgiven it if they’d sounded good.
