On the OP, all I’ll say is that I’d really like to see the contest decided on the field by the players, and not the officiating. I’m saying this in the hopes we don’t see a Packers-Bears Game 1 type flagfest or that the officials don’t whistle Harrison for 15 yards for looking cross-eyed at Rodgers, while ignoring the significant offensive holding that happens on both sides. I see the important matchups as these: Whether the Packers can slow down or cover Ward and Wallace w/o being flagged for def. holding and Whether the Steelers can get sufficient pressure to Rodgers off the edge, quickly enough that Rodgers can’t find an open receiver. I’d be surprised if the Steelers used anything other than a nickel or dime package all day, daring the Packers to try and beat them with Starks. How is Starks as a pass receiver? Can the Pack slow down the pressure with screens, or is Pittsburgh too big and fast for that to work? Also, despite the Outsiders’ very low ranking of GB Special Teams—mainly due to atrocious kickoff performance—I wouldn’t be surprised to see a very good game from Mason Crosby. Pittsburgh 28, Green Bay 27. ---

I can’t understand why the Packers are favored. I can only guess that the betting is being influenced by deluded Packer fans. I don’t even think this game is going to be close. The Steelers are clearly a better team, especially on defense. The Packers barely survived against a 3rd string quarterback in their last game. Has everybody forgotten that? ---

Luckily, the Packers defense has improved dramatically sine that game, with Matthews, Raji, and, most importantly Dom Capers. Should be an interesting game! ---

The Steelers were never in any trouble in those games, they just started celebrating a little early a aginst the Jets. They also weren’t playing a 3rd string quarterback in either of those games, and both of those teams were defensively better than the Packers. ---
