I need some clues for a super-hero dress-up party. Yeah, I know, there’s that Listerine guy, but that’s too obvious a rip-off. Does anyone have any good (preferrably realistic) heros/villains? My gal needs ideas too, so dont focus on the fellas! thanks ---

TRO-JAN-MAAAAAN! hehe. American Maid would be soooo cool. Pairs: Handi-Man and The Tiny Avenger. (remember Handi-Man, the handicapped superhero Damon Wayans played on In Living Color?) Vision and The Scarlet Witch. Daredevil and Elektra. Galactus and Nova. Cloak and Dagger. Rorschach and the Silk Spectre. Solo males that are fairly unique: Moon Knight Wonder Man Iron Fist Shang-Chi Captain Britain Solo females that are fairly unique: Black Widow Dakota North (not a superhero technically, but still cool) Marada the She-Wolf Twilight from DP7 ---

COUPLES: _Green Arrow & Black Canary_ have pretty simple to make costumes, especially the classic put-together out of normal clothing versions. _Hawkman and Hawkwoman_ are faves of mine (I don’t like the “Hawkworld” costumes as much–you might though). For obscure, go for the (late '80’s DC) Suicide Squad versions of _Nightshade and Nemesis_ or _Bronze Tiger and Vixen_. And there’s always Reed and Sue of the Fantastic Four, Ant-Man (or Giant-Man) and Wasp, Storm and Forge (for the truly inventive) and from the Legion of Super-Heroes: Mon-El and Shadow Lass, Star Boy and Dream Girl, Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel–no, scratch that… Why not Green Lantern (the current one) and either Jade (his girlfriend) or Troia (his ex) Heck, Captain Confederacy & Kid Dixie would be a riot–but do you look the part? ---

I should mention that Captain Confederacy was, by Captain Confederacy vol.II, a black woman–Kid Dixie was the “white boy” father of her child. They wore big ol’ “Southern Cross” saltires on their outfits. You might get beat up in those costumes, some places. ---

Birthday Suit Man! Not technically superhero costumes exactly, but I have to say the biggest hit I ever made at a costume party was dressing up as a priest. That by itself would have been a yawn, but the hit was my ex-girlfriend previously having arrived as a pregnant nun. ---

Have your girlfriend wear Hawkman’s Silver Age costume. It will make her the most popular girl at the party. 😃😃😃 At a recent “super” themed affair, I came as Clark Kent. Press badge in front, etc. I had a commercially-made Superman T-shirt on under the white dress shirt, & I would periodically pull the front of the “civvy” shirt open to reveal my “secret identity”. * * * It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose. ---
