We had the choice of “Super-Size Me” or the new “Dawn of the Dead” movie tonight. I chose the wrong one. I am only half way through “Super-Size” and I had to pause it. I feel like I need a cardiologist just from watching him eat that stuff! You can actually see him bloating up on camera! Furthermore, his complxeion appears to be changing. My husband told me, “I saw him on the Daily Show, he’s okay now, calm down.” Ronald McDonald is probably at the root of my clown-fears. I should have gone with the zombies.

We showed this movie to a adolescent girls at a birthday party (at the birthday girl’s request). It was the first time I’ve ever had pizza left over at a teen party, and they showed very little enthusiasm for cake at first.

I rented it, then ordered a copy. I may be able to use it in my classes.
That gastric bypass surgery scene was the most terrifying–and the saddest.

It’s an _okay_ movie, with some interesting facts the history of the corporation and American obesity generally, but I’m somewhat unimpressed by his dietary strategy or what it was supposed to prove. It would be like Michael Moore ending _Bowling for Columbine_ with a demonstartion of how dangerous guns really are by deliberately shooting himself in the leg.

I think “Supersize Me” was the only movie I’ve ever seen in a theatre that made everyone stop eating their popcorn! You weren’t going back for a refill on that UltraJumbo Value Size, either!

I thought it was amazing. I loved it. 'Course, it’s been at least 5 years since I’ve been at a McDonald’s.

Read _Fast Food Nation_ too.
Complete with cites.

I saw it at the movies with my son. On the back of the movie tickets they have freeby offers - half price popcorn next time, that kind of stuff. His was for the local Macca’s “buy one burger get one free”.

Not exactly. Gun manufacturers put out a product that’s designed to harm, and that is their primary purpose. It would be no surprise to see someone harmed from carelessly handling a firearm.

It’s more akin to somebody that decides to start a two-pack-a-day smoking habit for 30 days to see the damage that occurs to your body. And even that isn’t exactly the same – at least the cigarette manufacturers will own up to the fact that their products aren’t good for you. The fast food industry, AFAIK, won’t even cop to that much.

Great book. The author is Eric Schlosser.
I never eat fast food unless it’s just a little from In N Out.

I saw it at the school auditorium a couple weeks ago. I thought it was very good (and quite humorous). As disgusting as some of the scenes are, like the surgery segment, I have to admit that I actually had a hankering for some McDonald’s afterward. A couple days later I even got some supersize fries for breakfast. Mmm…fries.

But then, I’m almost underweight, which is part of why it didn’t bother me too much.

**Nightwatch Trailer** , from the fattest state in the union…

I’m pretty sure even the McDonald’s corporation doesn’t suggest people eat their food thrice daily, nor does Smith & Wesson advise using their products to learn to juggle. The filmmaker did something stupid and tries to call it noble.

McDonald’s has never implied you _shouldn’t_ eat it three times daily either. I’m not completely blaiming the fast food industry; they sell what people want and it’s up to each of us to educate ourselves about our health. And that’s what this movie did: educate. For instance, one of my hobbies is nutrition and I do a lot of reading in that area. But i had no idea how _quickly_ the crappy diet would lead to physiological changes and it was impressive to see it in the movie…

Not picking on you, tremor, but this is what I find amazing about this movie and why I hated it. This knuckle ate junk food for 30days, with no exercise, and it _shocked_ everyone that he got fat and his health went down?! What?

This guy is not courageous or even a good film maker! He is being applauded for pointing out that fast food is bad…are you kidding me??

sorry for the slight hi-jack…this guy just pisses me off…

That analogy doesn’t work! Like Marge said “Cannons are designed to hurt! They’re _designed_ to _hurt_!” McDonald’s hamburgers aren’t.
