I’m helping at the polls here in a SW Chicago suburb. Stopped by the house on lunch. So far we haven’t had a ton of turn-out; 60 votes out of 420 (so about 15%). We hand out separate ballots for Republican or Democrat (or Green but no one has selected one) and it’s been 80/20 Democrat/Republican.
Just now put my absentee ballot in the mail, thanks to this thread. Our true voting day isn’t until the 19th though.
I got a voicemail from my neighbor reminding me that it was primary day. I’m thinking he wants us to go together, like we did last November. Thing is, he’s an alcoholic, and had a go-cup half full of coffee and half full of whiskey, and was obviously blotto last time. I’m probably going to return his call after I’ve voted.
7:45 this morning in GA. In and out.
In by 853, done by 9am, using a touch screen, in Cook County, Il.
Go Barack!! And a few judges I’ve never heard of.
Voted at 7:15AM here in STL, MO. Light turnout. Beat the rain though… Also, the polling place at my new house is literally across the street at a school - very convenient!
I’m not voting in the primaries. I’m not registered with either party, and AIUI, NYS is a closed primary state. And I refuse to give either party enough support to actually boost their numbers with my vote.
Yes, that means I’ll have to accept what the primary process brings around in November.
Just got back from voting. Seems like my area’s demographics changed a bit; for once my husband and I had our own booths without waiting for one to open up.
No voting for me yet- I’m in Virginia, and we still have to wait a week.
Voted already. Yay! Feel so civic. It was my first time ever voting.
I didn’t notice how many people had already voted before me, though. Oh well.
I voted this morning. Man, I hate voting on ballot measures. How can one really make an informed decision about the?
But Go Go Obama!
O-Bam-A
I tried and failed lol. Apparently although I’m registered, I’m not affiliated with either the R or D parties. I probably would have voted for Obama - Kucinich was my first choice but he dropped out. Although I vote every year in the normal elections, this is the first primary I’ve cared enough to try and vote in.
I voted. I think the machine read my ballot. I should have asked, “Am I dong this right?”
Ran into a friend as I was leaving, who asked if there was a Libertarian ballot. I said there was. But then he said he was voting for McCain, because he’d voted for McCain in '00, & to spite Romney. Or something.
Yep, I did it before work at roughly 7:15 this morning. All told, it took roughly 5 minutes.
My wife baby and I molested the robot at about noon at an elementary school in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. I’m probably one of the only people in my district that voted for Mitt Romney.
Washington (or at least my county) has gone to straight vote-by-mail. Our primary date isn’t until the 19th, but I dropped my ballot off at the courthouse today since I was going past it on my way to the bank anyway. I don’t have any stamps.
No, but at least I’m voting my conscience, not just against Bush.
“Kerry’s primary advantage is that he’s not George Bush. He’s good at that.”
I voted for James Creighton Mitchell, Jr. just because I had never heard of him and did not want him to get zero. After looking him up I do not agree with his platform. Damn I guess I blew it with my meaningless vote.
I came home early to vote. Then dragged my husband. Unfortunately, Obama lost here.
