Hillary is making the point of saying “[I spent MY money on the campaign…](http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/02/it_was_my_money_hillary_says.html)”
I don’t know how to take this but it doesn’t sound like good news for the Clintons.

It’s not. Especially since the same folks who drove Obama to a $32 million dollar booty in January with their $30 donations, are now setting challenges to raise enough money in February to bankrupt Hillary.

> We need another month like January again. Clinton had to lend her campaign 5 million in order to keep up. By continuing to raise a lot more money than them, we can force them out of the race. How about another 30 million in February? If everyone donates what they donated last month we’ll gt it done. Yes we can!
That’s one of the most ignorant statements I’ve ever heard. Bush is ALL charm. It’s the fact that he doesn’t know jack about the issues himself and lets a cabal of handlers spoonfeed him info that’s his problem. Every person I’ve heard of who has met him personally says he’s incredibly charming.

How else do you think they pushed through so much of the godawful shite they did?
Bush does not have high-society charm, he has beer buddy charm. The latter will get you elected, but the former is what helps among a lot of the people presidents hang out with. Bush embarrassed himself in front of the Queen of England, for crying out loud! With many of those high-society people, you need to be able to talk intelligently about difficult topics, and Bush fails miserably there. Tony Blair, sleezeball that he was, had both kinds of charm, and was able to accomplish a lot with it, including leading the UK into a war that the majority of the population opposed from the outset (as opposed to the US, where the majority were in support, IIRC). You’re right that Bush was charming enough to do a lot, but if he were Blair-level charming, hecould have done so much more [shudder].

To me, personally, Bush is more cute than charming, in that silly old man kind of way. Just wish he weren’t Prez.
