Superbowl Commercial Thread

That’s what I thought about the Matrix ads.

T’wasn’t a commercial. T’was the opening of ABC’s Super Bowl Coverage! (To me, it seems that “coverage” in that phrase needs a capital. And an exclamation point.)

USA Today’s Ad Meter. Always fun. Rewatch your favorite Super Bowl Ads. And here’s the Ad Meter itself. Random folks voted live on their favorite commercials.

Some of them are available on aol.com, but I think you have to be a member to see them.

The Matrix was great. Especially since they showed most of the scenes talked about from the Newsweek feature (100 agent smiths, the freeway scene, etc).

The Hulk was great. " . . . but I know one thing for sure: you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry." I’ll agree that he does look a bit cartoony, but it’s much more impressive than Spider-Man looked.

But the Matrix, for its wealth of “no way was that done outside of a computer” special effects, was pretty damn good. Movie effects are finally coming to where they want to be.

The seashell budweiser thing was a bit hard to swallow though, since no way in hell is “join me for a bud light” going to ever work as a pickup line

I found an interesting juxtaposition in the some of the messages:Drugs are bad, Pot is bad, Smoking is bad;drinking beer and malt beverages is good! Couldn’t MADD afford a spot?

I checked out AOL, and they have them accessible even for non-members. But, they only have 18 of them up, so I couldn’t check out the Willie Nelson or Hulk ads, for example.

…and so the curse of RealMedia continued through the ages…

You folks don’t know how lucky you are - here in Germany we were forced to watch the same Burger King commercial EVERY FRIGGING BREAK aka EVERY TWO MINUTES.

I only got to see one new commercial because most of the commercials were about upcoming programming. I thought they were going to put in alot of new commercials not stuff about what’s on tomorrow night at 9pm.

Felcher Co.! How the hell did they get away with that? Thats worse than the kid who calls his brother a “dork”.

The commercial was a total failure. I can’t even identify the product.

“I’ll not drink with Troy again. His idea of fun is administering speculative thunder kicks to the genitals of off-duty police constables.”

“Dork” lost its phallic meaning years ago, in my opinion.

The ad was for Reebok.

Yo! You aren’t down with Terry Tate? You must be no football fan then.

I guess ABC needs all the help it can get!

Found more, at my local news site… these look to be either Quicktime or MPEG.

We need an office linebacker a la the Reebok commercial. Leave the copier with a jam in it and BLAMMO!

Would have liked the Ozzie Pepsi Twist commercial a lot better had CNBC not spoiled the punchline the Friday before.
