Oh MAN, the bud one they just showed (the one at the football game with the fans and the peices of board with picture on it making the pictures that could be seen from above) was really amazing. Was that real or computer animated?
A little Clydesdale colt wants to push the Bud carriage, but he’s too small. He can get his head in the bridle, but he can’t make the carriage move. A bigger Clydesdale gives him a push.
You do know that they got their racier ads rejected by ABC, right? According to GoDaddy.com, there were 13 versions rejected before their 14th was accepted.
Thanks for the explanations of the previous one.
You know, there are a lot of animal-themed beer ads. Seems to me the beer companies would be wanting to distance themselves from animals in their customers’ heads.
The Bud commercial with the fans and cards was pretty neat. I hope it was real. Was that Richard Dean Anderson on the action commercial (I don’t remember who it was for). The Degree commercial with the city full of stuntmen was funny, but the Emerald nuts was dumb.
TheToyota truck ad:
Hah ha! Josemite Sam got lucky with the chromed girl! (both characters common in truck flaps)
For everything else, there’s MasterCard. Don’t know if it was actually Anderson, but a nice reference to MacGyver.
Yes, it was him.
Check out http://www.ifilm.com/superbowl?htv=12. Not all the commercials are posted right now, but it looks like they will be there eventually.
The Hawks lost
i enjoyed: the streaker, the colt, the magic 'fridge.
And he dyed his hair for the commerical.
Don’t look at me like that. I was watching Stargate before the Superbowl.
Ah well, another year done. I give this one a B. The ads two years ago were a lot better, and for me, the 1999 and/or 2000 Superbowl ads were the best, as they were for all of the dot.coms that had money to burn, and were just months away from dying. They had a lot of high-concept, futuristic, cyberpunkish ads thatI really enjoyed seeing.
I was rooting for Seattle, too. There’s always next year.
I liked the MacGyver spot.
Oh, that was a Honda ad where the Silver Goddess encounters Yosemite Sam.
My favorite was the magic fridge. I love how they’re worshiping the wall at the end.
Sounded like it to me as well.
I always hate it when The Rolling Stones do that song. Devo did it much better.
I literally laughed out loud at that one.
USA Today’s annual ranking of ads, done by a random group who ranked the ads as they aired. A-B’s “magic fridge” top ad.
