A third of a century of sadness for some yayhoos tucked up in the far corner of the country means nothing, the Seahawks and their fans are expected to comport themselves like gentlefolk and not humiliate superstars like Lord Peyton in his coronation game, that he _deserved_ to win. When Cleveland or Houston or Detroit or some other long-suffering team finally makes it to the big game, we all ought to concede the team and their fans a bit of fair braggadocio and assholery, because they will have earned it. Right now, we all have to accede to Seattle and New England, because they are in. Or go skiing or ice fishing or take in a good opera, if it is really that troubling. ---

Next time, be sure to put “fangirl” in the title as well. 🙂 The Seahawks are on a plane bound for Phoenix as I type. I grew up in Texas when the Cowboys ruled under Tom Landry, and now live in the Seattle area. I have NEVER seen anything like Seahawks’ fans. This morning the local news had a live segment in a tattoo parlor showing fans getting blue and green “12” tattoos. One of my neighbors has a gigantic blue and green 12 made out of Christmas lights in his yard, and an even bigger lit-up outline of a hawk on his roof. This is not out of the ordinary here. And twelfies have replaced selfies. 😃 I am proud to be a Seahawks’ fan - I love a team that never gives up, no matter what. ---
