# Supergirl Season 3

I dunno, after the Gun Control episode, the next season might feature episodes on criminal justice reform, pharmaceutical pricing policy, and the virtues of eating your vegetables.

Incidentally, they mentioned Superman in passing, but Kara never did tell Clark that a hunk of the original planet survived and is relatively nearby. And maybe he’d like to go see his Aunt Alura?

I blame the theme music. We got a new, darker theme this season, with only a few hints of the original song here and there. If next season opens with the original triumphant music then we’ll know we got original Kara back.

Given that Superman ISN’T the focus, is it really necessary to show these interactions on TV for you to believe they happened, if that’s what you wish to happen? They’ve only got 42 minutes/week, and while I certainly don’t agree with every editing choice of what to show and what not to show, that’s 15-30 seconds the directors likely feel are better used elsewhere.

Like I said previously, they extended one episodes’ worth of material into three. Couldn’t they have added a scene of Kara informing Clark about Argo? It wouldn’t even have to show Clark; the first season had them texting back and forth, they could have just done that. And if Clark had said he didn’t want to leave Earth, it could have informed Kara’s realization that Earth was her home now, too.

Yeah, but then it would have been Clark who gave her the idea, which would mean our strong independent woman protagonist would now be reduced to doing what a man wants or something. \

Yeah, that ship sailed last season, which was all about Mon-el, and Supergirl became a secondary character in her own show.

Yeah, it’s in danger of being M_A_S\*Hified and all preachy like Dr Quinn, Politically Correct Frontier Woman.
If Supergirl was going to turn back time, what was the rush? She could have gone home, did her laundry, watch a movie, then find that portal and turn back just a few more hours.
So we lose Winn and both Martians and Mon-El for next year. Why didn’t they take Jimmy with him? His character is getting annoying.

Glad this uneven season is over. It wasn’t terrible but just was kind of meh with some high and low points. I do think Kara’s Time Doppleganger in Siberia will let them do a type of take on the famous Superman story Red Son (where Kal-El’s rocket crashed in the Soviet Union instead of Kansas). Of course this Kara wasn’t raised in Russia but I think they will turn her into Russian Champion of sorts.

To me, the stinger at the end of this season – and at the end of the last season – kinda had the same roll-your-eyes “oh geez, do I even WANT to see the next season if that’s what it’s going to be like?” appeal as the stinger at the end of Season 3 of _Star Trek: Enterprise_.
Remember that end-of-season teaser? Where they showed Earth during World War 2, with space aliens helping out the Nazis? Yeah, that’s about how it felt.

Both _Supergirl_ and _The Flash_ this season were similar in that they started out strong, had good mid-season finales, then the back half of their respective seasons fell apart. _The Flash_ eventually corrected itself but for _Supergirl_ it seems they finally just threw up their hands and just spent half their time setting things up for next season. The only thread of commonality I can find is that Andrew Kreisberg was showrunner for both shows.
